Paris Paloma 'Silhouette On The Hill' by Georgie Cowan-Turner

Rob Ulitski - 8th Sept 2026

Georgie Cowan-Turner directs a darkly cinematic promo for Paris Paloma, a shocking tale of murder and revenge with actor Ewan Mitchell playing Paris's assassin.

The video for Silhouette On The Hill begins with a shocking act and the scene is set for a Gothic Western-cum-ghost story, where Mitchell must deal with the spirits unleashed by his killling of Paris - in particular the figure on horseback that has appeared on the horizon.

Building on her previous Gothic-influenced videos for Paris, Cowan-Turner creates an otherworldly version of the countryside, building the unease of Mitchell's character. Intercut with performance from the bloodied Paris, now a ghostly figure captured in firelight, a psycho-drama emerges, building to a cathartic climax.

"The song has such an epic quality to it I knew it needed to feel like a short film, and we were so lucky to work with the exceptionally talented Ewan Mitchell on this one," explains Cowan-Turner.

"Ewan plays a character with no redeemable aspects. I wanted him to represent this untameable, brutal and cold male violence and for his world to contrast intensely with the powerful gothic space that Paris’ character exists within.

"His violence is brutal, emotionless almost like a hunger or a need he has in the moment, it's terrifying because it's thoughtless. Whereas Paris becomes a haunting presence that blends the narrator telling a story in a Western with something more otherworldly and powerful. He might have killed her but in our video he will not take her voice from her.

"It’s a gothic western and I was really pulling from loads of different genres and films, from There Will be BloodTwin Peaks, Macbeth, Psycho and Train Dreams to Stalker and pre-Raphaelite imagery to hopefully create a visual world that feels distinct but also completely in keeping with the themes of the song.

"Honestly the crew on this was fantastic, we had a largely female team including the immensely talented DOP Ailsa Aikoa whose visuals are so intensely beautiful as well as editor Eden Read who also did the sound design which really intensifies the terror of Ewan's performance and Paris' revenge. The styling teams for both Paris (Aldene Johnson) and Ewan ( Juliet Dodson) were incredible and really brought their characters to life."

With strong performances from both Paloma and Mitchell, the video is an absorbing feat - arguably the singer-songwriter and director's best collaboration to date.
