Having recently suffered the tragic loss of his father to suicide, Sam Tompkins has written the song Phones In Heaven, in order to make some sense of it. The video directed by Jack Lightfoot is also an important part of the process: it's a powerful visual which places Tompkins in an abstract office space, where his co-workers are name-tagged with emotions - represented different stages of grief.&nbsp;&nbsp;"This video means more to me than pretty much any piece of art I have ever made," says Sam Tompkins. "When I wrote Phones In Heaven, I wanted it to be directed at people who have lost a loved one suddenly to suicide.[imgtoken data:1]"I honestly don’t know many friendship groups compiled of men especially, who haven’t lost someone they know to it. I lost a friend of mine years back and it’s plagued me ever since, so I wanted this song to comfort people who have felt and still feel that sort of grief. That type of grief that stays open. The questions - the 'what ifs', the 'could I haves', maybe even the 'should I join them?'-type ones. It’s a mortifying feeling and so confusing."So, when my own dad, my hero decided to take his own life in November, my life instantly felt like it was falling apart all over again, but in a far worse way. I wondered what i would do without him. How i’d continue on in life for such a long time knowing he wasn’t gonna be there to see any of it. All i wanted was a sign. Just any sign that he’s fine. That’s what this song is about and what the video is about."&nbsp;"This was a very special video to work on," adds director Jack Lightfoot. "I don't think I could say it better than Sam himself."

Sam Nutt directs a cinematic promo in aid of charity <a href="https://www.helpmusicians.org.uk/" target="_blank">Help Musicians</a>.The atmospheric promo sees a selection of talented artists perform in the striking Asylum Chapel in Peckham, coming together to highlight the important work that the charity do to help musicians in times of crisis.&nbsp;A collaboration between composer Jan Willem de With, Laura and Sarah Ayoub and Help Musicians UK, the video is breathtakingly executed, and shines a spotlight on the magic behind the music.&nbsp;"HelpMusiciansUK have recently learnt through a survey that 67% of musicians feel that their mental health is worse than it was before the pandemic with more considering leaving the music industry for good, and turning to Music Minds Matter for therapeutic support," the charity explain in&nbsp;the YouTube description.&nbsp;"This film aims to bring attention to the important work Help Musicians does to help musicians across times of crisis, by reflecting the idea of musicians coming together in a sheltered place. So it was fun playing with that and showing female energy in an empowering way."

Blake Claridge directs a stirring promo for the long-awaited return of&nbsp;The Subways.&nbsp;The video takes place in a 70's-inspired bedroom - complete with wood panelling, graphic carpets and earthy colour palettes - with the group rocking out as the camera rotates and descends frenetically, perpetually transitioning from the top to the bottom of the room in a crane-style movement.&nbsp;"I guess I can refer to The Subways as long time collaborators now," says Blake Claridge.&nbsp;"It's been about fifteen years since our first video. Perhaps I am getting old now - I’m not!!""That was also the drive of the concept of the video. The track is certainly punk and youthful and I wanted to bring that to the piece without it feeling forced or out of touch, so kept things simple and allowed them to do what they do best."

Jack Lightfoot directs a touching exploration of brotherhood, in his promo for Sam Tompkins' latest single.&nbsp;Starring real-life siblings Sonnyboy and Buddy Skelton, the video for My Brother interweaves several narrative vignettes, set in an anachronistic, early Noughties time period.&nbsp;In the concept, the younger of the two brothers - Buddy - is struggling to connect with Sonnyboy, and feels left out when trying to spend time with him. This all changes when their father dies, and the two form an unbreakable bond and friendship.&nbsp;"It was great to team up with Sam again, this time in the director's chair," says Lightfoot.&nbsp;"Sam came up with the narrative, and having a younger brother myself it really struck a chord with me - we've certainly been through many similar situations together - sorry Tom!&nbsp;"I was delighted that we managed to land Sonnyboy and Buddy for the lead roles - they're such a talented family and look great on camera, they really took this video to the next level. Hot off the heels of the release of his acclaimed feature film Boiling Point, Philip Barantini directs a heartfelt promo for Sam Tompkins.&nbsp;Thematically exploring the artist's relationship with his Dad, Tompkins transforms into a middle-aged version of himself in the video for Hero - complete with thinning hair and a wife and son of his own - and gets to grips with the challenges of ageing whilst battling his own demons.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]Tompkins' character leaves home early one morning, and drives to a cliff, where he contemplates ending it all - before reminiscing over a photo he has in his pocket, remembering a day with his family.&nbsp;The final shots see the artist remove his makeup and interact with the crew, breaking character before going to call his Dad for real.It's a poignant and relatable concept, brought to life by Barantini's sensitive&nbsp;direction and ability to extrapolate pure emotion from the cast.&nbsp;"When Sam and his team sent the brief for Hero I was immediately drawn to the honesty, and how powerful the message was," says Barantini. "I really hope anyone who is struggling might find the strength to reach out when they watch it. It was a joy to work with such a passionate bunch of people on this too."

Blake Claridge directs a poignant and&nbsp;meditative promo for modern classical artist Alexis Ffrench.&nbsp;The video for Guiding Light builds upon themes of love and loss, and depicts a woman standing on the shoreline, allowing the waves to wash over her bare feet, while&nbsp;an upright piano stands&nbsp;just metres away. Then Ffrench himself appears, playing the refrain of Guiding Light on the piano.&nbsp;The idea of connection to nature and to a higher power is elevated by the stormy, unsettled weather, and the subtlety of the performance allows viewers to impress their own experiences onto the concept and form their own attachments to the music."On the recce, the sun was out and I had planned things for the perfect sunset," explains Blake Claridge.&nbsp;"But this is England,&nbsp;so on the shoot day we were coming off the back of a storm and shooting in torrential rain. But it was perfect, and just created more drama to what was always going to be a pure and simple piece."
