Graecyn 'Autumn' by Aidan Robert Brooks
Rob Ulitski - 16th Dec 2024
Aidan Robert Brooks's promo for London multihyphenate artist Graecyn is an intimate portrait of love and loss, following the aftermath of a whirlwind romantic road trip that ends in heartbreak.
The project started with Brooks putting an open call out on Instagram that he had a spare roll of 16mm film and “wanting to use it for something great.” A mutual friend put him in touch with Graecyn and they bonded while talking about their past relationships and breakups.
In the video Graecyn is driving back to London alone. As memories clash with reality, the nostalgic aesthetic feels dreamlike yet tangible, and the distinctive colour grade heightens the emotional pull of the narrative.
Lovely work, with universal themes explored in a fresh and intimate way by a filmmaker best known in music videos for his production work, showing here he has a bright future as a director.
