Luis Hindman returns with another mesmerising visual for Joesef, this time in the form of a three-part live film, where the Scottish soul singer performs songs from his debut album, Permanent Damage, released in January.Set in the same world as the excellent series of videos directed by Hindman for tracks from&nbsp;the album,&nbsp;the film takes place in the fictional 'Apartment 22' - a place&nbsp;referenced in the album, where Joesef has been stranded by a past lover.&nbsp;Shot on 16mm, the video was shot by Jake Gabbay, and is comprised of subtle Steadicam shots by&nbsp;Justin Theodore as Joesef and his band perform three songs: Joe, Borderline and Just Come Home With Me Tonight.The textural, almost surreal aesthetic perfectly contrasts the intimate live performance, and the concept as a whole is a brilliant extension to the universe Hindman and the artist have so lovingly brought to life.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;

The fourth video in an outstanding series for alt-soul singer Joesef by Luis Hindman offers one final unexpected twist.Following the videos for It's Been A Little Heavy Lately, East End Coast and Joe, this one for&nbsp;Just Come Home With Me Tonight ties everything together, carrying through the modern film noir aesthetic, this time with Hindman collaborating with DoP Nikita Khatsarevich.Once again, Joesef is a night out - lovelorn and lonely - but then he finds someone. This turns into a dreamlike chapter of passion on London's drizzly and dark&nbsp;streets.Finally, there is a connection back to the first video when Joesef returns home - alone -&nbsp;where the love interest from that video (played by Adam Monks) is waiting for him. So is Joesef unfaithful, or did everything before that actually really happen?As with its predecessors this conveys the sense&nbsp;that the Scottish singer-songwriter&nbsp;is a romantic but restless soul, and does so in impressively cinematic fashion. All the films serve his debut album, Permanent Damage - out in January 2023 - very well indeed.

Floria Sigismondi returns to music videos with a theatrical blockbuster for Sam Smith's chart-topping Unholy,&nbsp;featuring Kim Petras.Shot in London, this eye-popping extravaganza&nbsp;is a musical set-piece packed with flair, pizzazz and sexual energy - with Sam as the charismatic MC of a small army of show-people at&nbsp;The Body Shop, the LGBTQ+ cabaret where lustful dreams come true.&nbsp;With cameos by Gottmik and Violet Chachki from RuPaul's Drag Race,&nbsp;and porn star Paddy O'Brian, the film follows a husband who ducks out on his wife and sneaks off to his favorite sex club cabaret, where he soon finds his guilty pleasures revealed in a very public manner. After discovering her husband’s unfaithful ways, the film concludes with the wife character becoming liberated by her own sexuality, rather than a victim to the scandal.A modern retelling of the spectacle of cabaret, Sigismondi&nbsp;has drawn upon her&nbsp;upbringing for this - she was born to Italian opera singer parents, and grew up amid the theatrical and the avant-garde&nbsp;- and applied her&nbsp;trademark cinematic style previously seen in her award-winning work for the likes of Gucci, Rihanna, David Bowie, and Justin Timberlake.Choreographed by French dance collective (LA)HORDE, who are famed for their ability to develop scenarios and actions that take up radically contemporary themes and questions, the seductive music video is a visual feast led by a diverse and queer cast.With references to French surrealist photographer Claude Cahun and noted corset maker of the late 20th Century, Mr. Pearl, the video’s costume designer Lisa Jarvis created an impressive range of otherworldly looks for the enormous ensemble, who were cast&nbsp;by Hannah Ashby Ward at Lane Casting (an LGBTQ+ owned company) to showcase&nbsp;real, diverse and unapologetic bodies.&nbsp;Floria Sigismondi, Director, comments: “I grew up in the world of theatre and opera. This film presented the platform for me to reach deep into that history. It was important to me to bring the theatrics and drama to the film while also giving it a modern feel. We were not interested in creating a period piece. We wanted to create our own world. The theatre and setting gave us the history of cabaret but the costumes broadened that and injected a modern element. For me it's a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community and creating that celebration was the most important and joyous experience."Jannie McInnes, Executive Producer at Scheme Engine, adds: “The creative excellence and expression across departments on this project completely blew my mind. Floria sets a high bar, inspires people to bring their most creative selves and she wants everyone to have fun doing it. Luis Hindman directs promo full of yearning for Joesef - set on two different crowded dancefloors.Following previous collaboration for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2022/02/23/joesef-its-been-little-heavy-lately-luis-hindman/75129">It's Been A Little Heavy Lately</a>, the video for&nbsp;East End Coast sees Joesef drifting through&nbsp;an atmospheric&nbsp;club packed with a mixed crowd of revellers and kissing couples. He is seemingly the only one alone among this hipster crowd, reflective and lipsyncing to the melodic song.The fact that he is pining from a lost love from his hometown of Glasgow is brought home by the introduction of another, slightly less crowded dancefloor, of a gay club - this one distinguished from the other also by the blueish tinge in the grade and a different aspect ratio - with Joesef himself in a smooch with a boy.[imgtoken data:1]It's an evocative&nbsp;display of love and loss, told through an atmospheric and hyperreal aesthetic, beautifully shot by Sam Meyer. Joesef also gives an excellent downbeat performance amid the fevered atmosphere&nbsp;of the London club, and Luis Hindman handles this tricky juxtaposition of the two settings, to bring out the emotion of the song, really well.&nbsp;Joesef told Attitude Magazine that the video was very important to him. "If I'd seen a wee guy from the east of Glasgow necking a lad in a music video back in the day I'd have felt a bit less alone."

It's a dance to the death in Sophia Ray's blinding promo for Regard, featuring Olly Alexander of Years And Years.&nbsp;The video places Olly&nbsp;as an apprehensive contestant&nbsp;at the centre of a dance marathon, where he has to sweat, pant, dive and dance his way to an exhausted victory - all driven by Meshach Henry's trailblazing choreography. Meanwhile, Regard lingers as a mysteriously sinister driving force behind&nbsp;the&nbsp;scenes of this dark competition."The concept for the video was inspired by the 1969 Sydney Pollack film They Shoot Horses Don't They," explains Sophia Ray. "We wanted to take the themes from this cult classic and then give the video our own creative spin on them, setting it in a contemporary, perplexing, dystopian space."The video is a&nbsp;tour de force&nbsp;of creativity, wrapped in vibrant layers of choreography, post-apocalyptic styling and futuristic art direction, and emanates a minacious yet playful tone throughout. Brock Neal Roberts directs a chilling black comedy about urban youth in his latest collaboration with&nbsp;Jeshi.The video for Generation, the rapper's pin-sharp critique of a troubled society,&nbsp;explores the complex issues facing the youth of today - from drugs to violence&nbsp;to&nbsp;an unhealthy reliance on digital technology -&nbsp;cleverly encapsulated in a fly-on-the-wall aesthetic.&nbsp;From a vantage point high above the ground, the camera settles on a series of&nbsp;unfolding narratives, before quickly panning away and seeking out the next moment, involving one or more early-teen boy engaged in activities more usually associated with young men, or to Jeshi himself as on-the-spot commentator.[imgtoken data:1]The concept is lived out by a group of young boys, who light cigarettes for strangers, throw&nbsp;rocks at takeaway food delivery riders&nbsp;and ignore parents whilst engrossed in their phones.The cyclical nature of the concept is cleverly rounded off in the end scene, where the boys begin to throw rocks at a random neighbour's house, and the perspective switches from third person to first person, proving that we aren't only witnesses to the problems facing society, but very much a part of the tapestry.&nbsp;
