Videos of the Month – November 2015
Aside from the UKMVA excitement in the first week of the month, November brought us another rich seam of work in music videos. This included more idiosyncratic self-directed videos by unconventional pop artists, in this case, M.I.A. and Grimes; Henry Scholfield returned to his roots to direct an excellent video for Sir Spyro's Side By Side; graphic designers Lernert & Sander's impressive 3-in-1 video for Dutch electronic group De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig showed how interactive videos don;t have to be complicated to work well; Shynola broke a few rules themselves, releasing their second video for the same Raleigh Ritchie track, Bloodsport.
The month ended in monkey fashion: CANADA's Tame Impala video featuring a surreal love triangle between a basketball player, a rythmic gymnast and the gorilla named Trevor. And then Coldplay's freshly released Adventure Of A Lifetime follows the band as apes, having the time of their lives.
