Bloc Party 'The Love Within' by Ivana Bobic
Riff Raff's recently-signed director Ivana Bobic, has delivered Bloc Party’s bumpin' new video The Love Within, featuring an array of performers compelled to dance by the song’s pulsating guitar riff.
With choreography by the ever-talented and highly productive Holly Blakey, known for her work on videos for Florence and the Machine's Delilah, Jungle's Time, and Young Fathers' Shame.
IVANA BOBIC:
“This was such an exciting track to work on. The psychedelic spirituality of the lyrics (like the line ‘don’t you want to get high?’) got me thinking about a shape-shifting karma.
"I wanted the video to be all about reincarnation through dance, a celebration of joy and freedom. The cast of characters transform one into another with a big surreal twist at the end. Holly Blakey's choreography really pushed each dancer’s personality and style but each with moves that linked them together in the transitions, a way of seamlessly shifting one character to the next with an edit trick.
"Tony Miller (DoP) brought the endless tracking shot to life in the huge shopping centre, we wanted everything to be moving forwards all the time, graphic and strong with the wide lenses.
"The best moment of the night shoot was dancing in the shopping centre with Kele and the crew. It was exactly the middle-of-the-night weirdness I had imagined.”
