Deb Never wakes up to find a plant growing out of her chest in Quba Tuakli's video for Funky - a quirky and cartoonish satire on music biz exploitation.

Tuakli's video for the alt-pop producer-performer shows what it's like to dream of a world full of what you love, but waking up to something different. After the literal blossoming of her talent, Deb Never encounters a shark-like label executive who forces her into a contract. And as a result, she ends up being buried...

“The concept of the film is pretty simple; nurture yourself in a world that wants you to conform, and chase your potential, even if it’s scary," explains Tuakli. 

"Currently, I’m enjoying the process of character creation. Working with our lead Adam to realise the label exec character I dreamed up was the highlight of the shoot. Deb was a vibe to work with, affable and professional – when an artist is mingling with the crew and cracking jokes, everyone has more spring in their step.”
