Rachel Chinouriri 'One Song Away From Crying' by Dora Paphides

Rob Ulitski - 18th Aug 2026

Dora Paphides directs an effervescent promo for Rachel Chinouriri.

Leaning into cool, metallic hues and Y2K-inspired set builds, the video for One Song Away From Crying reimagines the club bathroom as a liminal sanctuary.

Punctuated by offbeat, surreal moments - with heads twisting 360 degrees and strange, flickering blinking - the visual leans into the confusing nature of growing up, and the environments we inhabit as we do so.

"This era for Rachel was about maturity - writing about her twenties, growing up," Paphides mentions. "She’s not the teenage girl we’ve seen at house parties anymore. I thought, okay, Rachel’s graduated from house parties, she’s now at the club.

"And maybe that graduation doesn’t necessarily always feel gorgeous and stunning and fun and Sex and the City, Sometimes your twenties feel endless, confusing, lonely and a little trapping. We wanted to capture that feeling in this video.

"Rachel was amazing - a true one take wonder, we could make an hour long extended cut with all the things we didn’t use. She also brought so much to the video creatively which made the video so much tighter and cooler and creative.

"It was quite a technical video and tricky to get your head round how it would work especially because we needed to shoot it in record time. Every single person on this crew worked unbelievably hard to make it happen!"
