Rianne White follows the enigmatic visual for Winnie Raeder's <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2022/03/28/winnie-raeder-end-me-rianne-white/75581">The End Of Me</a> with Promised Love, the second promo in a three-part series.&nbsp;The video opens with a slow pull-out from a piece of priceless pottery, which slowly tumbles and shatters in slow-motion. The interconnectedness of the concept is highlighted by the use of the same shots to end one video and begin another, and a separate vignette suggests this will be the case for the third and final promo as well.&nbsp;The arresting imagery is stripped-back yet very effective, and remains open to interpretation.&nbsp;"Promised Love (Part 2) was truly the most humbling process to trust and believe in this vision," says Rianne White. "There is so much I could say about this film, but the real beauty of it is bringing this moment to the audience to find their own meaning within it."It's powerful to remind ourselves how we really feel and connect when we slow down and listen."&nbsp;&nbsp;

Architects' founder and drummer Dan Searle takes up the director's reins once again -&nbsp;after his excellent video for Animals - for a terrific performance video achieved in a single take.&nbsp;The premise is pretty simple:&nbsp;Architects&nbsp;are captured playing When We Were Young on a camera constantly moving around them on a circular track. It's the faultless execution that elevates the idea to the next level.With a low-key intro before the band explode into action, and a great lighting set-up to highlight the mood, the camera revolves around a pulsating performance by the band where Architects' frontman Sam Carter is always the focus of attention, the centre point in the circle the whole time.Beautifully shot by Thomas English, this is a really excellent&nbsp;performance video. The band's drummer really knows what he's doing.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Josh Sondock has directed an ingenious video for US singer-songwriter Nick Leng that dissembles the process of making a video - indeed the whole idea of image-creation&nbsp;- in one bravura continuous take.It's a bit more complicated than that. Sondock's video for Leng's Morning/Midnight is a film with a Russian Doll structure - or perhaps reverse Russian Doll. Several performances of the track by Leng come together, layered on&nbsp;top of each other. We move outward from a performance that is revealed to be on a monitor, which is then part of a scene which includes Leng performing... and that is revealed to be a take, on a screen. We move out, and also back in, thorugh the increasing number of layers...Sondock has described this as "a one-take music video in which a musician makes a one-take music video in which a musician makes a one-take music video in which a musician makes a one-take music video..." And so on.&nbsp;That is exactly what it is - but, conversely, that does not quite&nbsp;do it justice.[imgtoken data:1]This has the rare quality of being a brilliant concept, which is quickly evident. But there is a uncharted end point, somewhere ahead,&nbsp;which keeps you hooked.&nbsp;Furthermore this idea has tremendous resonance - especially but not exclusively for filmmakers - meditating on the almost ludicrous ubiquity of screens in daily life.Perhaps most crucially of all, this is all about a great (and quite complicated) idea, executed well, and with great clarity. An exercise in smart creativity that makes it one of the most satisfying watches of the year so far.

A fun-loving fugitive is on the run in a world where joy is outlawed, in Ricky Gibb's entertaining video&nbsp;for Duvall &amp; Sam Gray's Good Feeling.In the extended intro to the video, the scene is set where&nbsp;Brady, the desperately thrill-seeking lead character, is cornered by a pair&nbsp;of plain-clothes Fun Police, finding refuge in a dreary bar that is&nbsp;sparsely populated with a handful of downtrodden characters. From there the director shows his skill with an ensemble of comedy actors, as with his recent video for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2022/03/07/murkage-dave-us-lot-ricky-gibb/75237" target="_blank">Murkage Dave</a>, in an inventive take on the classic hostage-taking narrative."Good Feeling was such a fun track to write to," says Gibb. "On the surface the music is super sunny and feel-good, but the lyrics talk about isolation and the idea of coming to terms with oneself. It’s an interesting mix, and definitely provided a lot of food for thought for the writing process."[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;It's a playful and often hilarious central narrative - where the Fun Police's ploy of smuggling a speaker in the pizza boy's delivery spectacularly backfires. But ultimately, this succeeds thanks to some&nbsp;impressive performances from a cast committed to&nbsp;delivering this far-fetched,&nbsp;high-concept idea.&nbsp;"I feel like we all just want to crack on with our lives in relative peace without being fucked with," continues Gibb. "So being able to explore this desire through the character of Brady was probably quite a cathartic process for me. Looking back across my work, it seems like I find a lot of joy in forcing characters (often the artist) to navigate some real compromising situations."I’ve been reflecting on why this might be, and realistically I think it’s just probably quite a comforting reminder for me to see examples of people traversing some bullshit and getting out the other side. Even if it is by the skin of their teeth."&nbsp;

Rianne White directs the first of three visuals for London-based&nbsp;Winnie Raeder's new EP, with&nbsp;a minimalist and near abstract piece for The End Of Me.&nbsp;The video explores connection and comfort, visualised through two pairs of hands entangled in twine, attempting to reach each other and free themselves from their binding. Rianne White explains that the idea came from the clarity&nbsp;of Raeder's delivery of her music.&nbsp;"Winnie has a sound that grants you access to your inner world and has you locked in a dance with yourself as you feel every word and note of it," she reflects.&nbsp;"We spoke about connection, feeling uncomfortable, playing with the nerve in the song - a place where you can be both fearless and vulnerable, consumed by a gas leak effect of your own emotions. Let’s sit still, and really feel it."The focus upon this symbolic imagery, and infusion of emotion perfectly match the downtempo track. Unfortunately Dominique contracted Covid just before the shoot, and Ricky Gibb stepped in, taking over directing duties on the video.

As a bunch of old friends cling on through the final hours of a houseparty, Murkage Dave makes a timely appearance in Ricky Gibb';s perceptive and&nbsp;wonderfully performed video for Us Lot.This has been framed by Gibb as a comedy drama with dialogue leading into the track,&nbsp;featuring the interaction between five twenty-something&nbsp;friends, who have become less close through the passage of time, then finding a moment to come together again with the mysterious help of Murkage Dave.&nbsp;And this really does feel like a party in the final stages after its been going for several hours, with the characters in various&nbsp;states of mind, from the guy enthusing about crypto, to the blissed-out raver, to the individual sweating on the sofa riding out a bad trip - and seeing Murkage Dave materialise once the track goes on the speakers.[imgtoken data:1]Gibb reveals that the video came from a lot of brainstorming between himself and Dave - pretty much since they first worked together two years ago, on the video for Miles from Kinshasa's Motions. "It's the second time Dave and I have worked together on a music video: although based on the endless conversations and concepts we’ve bounced off of one another over the past two years it feels as though we've created a hundred projects together," he says."For me, the lyrical content is always the first jumping-off point when developing the idea,&nbsp;and Dave’s words are an absolute joy to respond to creatively.&nbsp;"He paints such vulnerable, personable, and relatable images; something I seek to do within my own work too.[imgtoken data:2]&nbsp;"In my own life, it has felt harder and harder to see friends and maintain connections. This is something that weighs on me heavily. Studying the sentiments expressed in Us Lot&nbsp;really reminded me that some bonds will always remain, despite how infrequently we may get to see one another."This felt like quite an unusual one to approach from a logistical recording perspective on the day; the idea that each of them was inextricably entwined, although seemingly severed in the space. With the strength of an incredibly talented cast - Victoria Nwaesei as Dom, Will Stevens as Earl, Alex Flick as Oscar, Rosie Goddard as Maisey, Derrick Methu as Bigz -&nbsp;and crew (including Joshua Fry as DOP, Tomasso Colleli on Steadicam), we were able to run the entire video through start to finish akin to a theatre show, and really allow the cast to explore their characters and the space equally in front of us.”He has done a great job with this, his first video since signing to KODE. Ricky Gibb has joined the directors roster at KODE in London, and kicked things off at his new home with his latest video, for Murkage Dave's Us Lot.The newest addition to KODE’s talent roster will be focussed on music video work. This is Gibbs's first signing to a London production company, having previously worked&nbsp;independently with artists including Lancey Foux and Skaiwater in addition to Murkage Dave and Miles from Kinshasa.&nbsp;Gibbs's work is renowned for blending&nbsp;performance and storytelling in his music promos,&nbsp;his directing style conveying&nbsp;a sense of truth and authenticity to the characters portrayed. London-based production studio KODE has announced the signing of Josh Sondock to their roster of directors, for music videos and commercials in the UK.With a portfolio containing successful commercial campaigns for clients such as Golden Goose, Knickerbocker MFG&nbsp;and Next Gen,&nbsp;Sondock's humanistic yet cinematic style is captured throughout his work but is perhaps most evident in his music videos, for the likes of Ashe, Orion Sun and Gavin Turek.In&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kodemedia.com/directors/josh-sondock?view=a-holiday-night-with-ashe" target="_blank">A Holiday Night&nbsp;for American singer/songwriter Ashe</a>, Sondock presents a&nbsp;vintage filmic aesthetic while&nbsp;telling a small, heartfelt story.
