Andy Mihov (AVM) reunites with Au/Ra for E-MOTION, the latest video from the artist’s debut concept album heartcore.

Following their previous collaboration on CRACK!, AVM returns to craft a dark fantasy performance piece, placing Au/Ra inside a long-forgotten biostasis chamber overgrown with plants, vines, moss and flowers. It is in this setting that a long hidden power inside her begins to stir and awaken.

The video boasts a gently surreal, futuristic aesthetic, with anachronistic technology and a contrast between the organic and the artificial. 

“Anime, video games and fantasy were always a huge inspiration, and a solace to the loneliness and monotony of my teenage years,” says AVM. “I never imagined just how profoundly those pieces would influence my work, or with what ease and joy they would float out of the recesses of my childhood memories and find a place in the work.

“What’s more, they became an easy shorthand, almost a secret language, between myself and the artist. I believe we were able to have deeper, more honest and more positive collaborative conversations because of those shared passions.

"They say like recognizes like, or game recognizes game. Whatever it is, it was there between myself and Au/Ra, and I think that’s why CRACK! and now E-MOTION were crafted with so much love."

It's another rousing visual from the creative team, showcasing a commitment to worldbuilding, standout imagery and ambitious concept work. 

“E-MOTION is the penultimate song on the album and the final video in the album journey," adds the director. "I was very happy to have told not one, but two stories in that world. They’re pieces I will always be proud of. In moments where time and budget are not in your favour, you have to act on instinct and work with people you know get you.

“I’m very proud that I chose my team well, and everyone showed up at the top of their game.”
