Charli xcx 'Chains Of Love' by C Prinz

Rob Ulitski - 19th Nov 2025

Charli reunites with C Prinz, whose choreography and camera direction brought the Brat movement to the Grammy stage, for her latest breathtaking music video.

The video for Chains Of Love - from the upcoming Wuthering Heights adaptation - is a modern gothic vision set within a Baroque style room- a world where longing curdles into obsession and beauty fractures into hysteria.

At the centre of a long banquet table, Charli commands the space with a presence that feels both magnetic and untamed. She crawls, thrashes, and unravels in a heated, ecstatic performance as the room remains rigid, a still-life backdrop to her unraveling.

Boasting an aesthetic like and 18th-century oil painting refined with seamless visual effects, it's an ambitious yet considered vision - the product of two creative powerhouses.

The concept is essentially a portrait of desire in captivity.

"The Chains of Love music video idea started as an image in my head: Charli laying face-down on a banquet table like a deity in a baroque fever dream — half muse, half monster," explains C Prinz.

"The concept is essentially a portrait of desire in captivity. She’s not acting out a character; she is a force - magnetic, destructive, erotic, divine. I built the video around the idea of her body being pushed between possession and proclamation, as if the space itself is in love with her and can’t decide whether to worship her or destroy her.

"It became a kind of gothic performance ritual — devotion turning to hysteria, beauty collapsing into transcendence, all inside one surreal, decadent tableau."
