Femi Tahiru 'The First Time I Got High' by Adam De Silva
Rob Ulitski - 2nd Aug 2023
Adam De Silva directs a striking promo for Femi Tahiru.
With a textural 1970's aesthetic and a series of trippy performance vignettes, the video sees Femi venture on a journey through his own mind, where he grapples with the complex emotions and feelings that life throws his way. The action culminates as Femi emerges from this fever dream into a stunning sunrise, reborn again.
It's an impressive introduction to the artist, with a fresh and hypnotic vibe that doesn't let up until the very end.
"The essence of the track is all about when someone is battling with dark forces who aren’t really there to serve them well, but are actually a poison trying to pull focus away from what’s good for you and impact your life in a negative way," says Adam De Silva.
"Think 'toxic ex' who is holding you back and stopping you reaching your full potential sort of vibes. It’s when you realise that the only person truly responsible for you reaching your full potential is you - and not them - is that you can escape that dark place and break free.”
