Holly Humberstone 'London Is Lonely' by David M Helman
Rob Ulitski - 4th Apr 2022
A disused tube station provides the appropriately atmospheric backdrop for David M Helman's gripping video for Holly Humberstone's London Is Lonely.Â
Sat on a perpetually rotating platform, Humberstone delivers a mesmerizing performance in a single continuous take. As she reminisces about a lost lover, and the loneliness of the big city without them, she completely transfixes the viewer with the emotion and intimacy of her delivery and relationship with the camera.Â
The dramatic lighting transitions and hazy post effects add a haunting, introspective mood, which just does enough to augment the stripped-back concept, ensuring the focus never wavers from the remarkable performance that Helman has drawn from Humberstone in this video.Â
