AJ Tracey ft T Pain 'Summertime Shoutout' by KC Locke
KC Locke's third video this year for AJ Tracey follows the pattern of the first two for Anxious and Little More Love with some exceptional visual invention illustrating the London rapper's lyrical flow. This one is perhaps the most ingenious of the lot, bringing AJ together with T Pain at a summertime pool party - with the American rapper never leaving Atlanta.
KC explains below how the miracle of motion control made it happen. But perhaps the most impressive thing is that this became a possibility and then devised and executed, once Covid restrictions meant T-Pain had to be filmed in the US.
We decided to use two motion control companies - one UK, one Atlanta - and bring both artists together...
"Our third collaboration together brought new creative challenges to overcome. AJ wanted a relaxed house party with featured artist T-Pain. But the only issue was that he lives in Atlanta and the shoot was in London. Due to travel restrictions and availability we had to come up with a solution to integrate T-Pain into the video without him being there.
"I wanted to avoid the usual remote shoot of an artist being shot separate and used as cutaways in an edit. Using my knowledge of motion control we decided to use two motion control companies (one UK, one Atlanta) and bring both artists together in the same moving shot as if they were actually together IRL.
"This was another demonstration of how over the past 12 months we have had to shoot under restrictions but still enabled cool and creative concepts to be imagined."
