Lana Del Rey 'Chemtrails Over The Country Club' by BRTHR
BRTHR direct a ferociously glamorous video for Chemtrails Over the Country Club, the title track of Lana Del Rey's new album.
The director duo - Alex Lee and Kyle Wightman - are well known for their hyperstylised aesthetic, full of vibrant colours, vintage effects and experimental camera movement. There's plenty of that here, but it never overwhelms the poignancy of the melancholic narrative.
The concept features a group of women - Del Rey included - whose lives we view with the contrast of night and day; refined poolside elegance vs their primal, unleashed selves.
The frenetic visuals aren't the most immediately obvious pairing to the artist's haunting soundscapes, but the risk has paid off - the resulting project is endlessly watchable and all-consuming in the best way.
