Afrancis 'Lonely People' by Hedvig Ahlberg
Rob Ulitski - 20th July 2020
Afrancis searches for connection through music in Hedvig Ahlberg's video for Lonely People.
Set in a pub in London, the singer begins to perform to some uninterested punters, before her dancing alter-ego appears out of thin air, resonating with the music, taking up the space with movement and being driven by pure emotion.
"We wanted to create a world that symbolises the feeling of loneliness that Afrancis speaks about in the song," says director Hedvig Ahlberg. "Almost through animalistic movements the two of them starts to gravitate towards each other – seeking that connection they yet haven’t found, but have been longing for."
DoP Luciana Riso keeps the vision authentic with plenty of natural light at the beginning, which transforms to heavy greens and reds as the video progresses, mirroring this connection and the feeling of wonderment and fantasy in the concept.
