Doves 'Prisoners' by BWTV
Rob Ulitski - 16th July 2020
BWTV direct a transcendent and philosophical visual for Doves' Prisoners.
Following the incredible VFX trickery in Carousels - their first release in over ten years - this video follows a similarly abstract pattern, focusing on vignettes of life and the universe.
Spanning a huge variety of self-contained mini-concepts, the setups includes a fawn inside a modern apartment, a variety of lighting patterns inside buildings and off-kilter journeys through the streets and skies.
Complete with a series of breathless visual effects, the video is a triumphant return for Doves, and a perfect follow-up to the last release.
BWTV:
The energy we wanted to capture in the video [is] the feeling of people coming together and overcoming isolation and disconnection.
"Doves first new music in over ten years includes this stunning track titled Prisoners, crowning a triumphant return and offering some definition to this unique moment in time. A splintered UK that spent the last five years provoking and entrenching divisions suddenly found itself facing a new challenge that required collective action.
"Amidst the tragedy we saw something beautiful happen: people were, if only for a fleeting moment, united. We began to rediscover our sense of community and a profound sense of shared responsibility. We saw the heroic feats of people working to replace fear with courage and hate with hope.
"This is the energy we wanted to capture in the video - the feeling of people coming together and overcoming isolation and disconnection. A visual bursting with humanity, movement, passion and colour that offers an escape from the unbearable tension of the moment so that for a few minutes you are no longer stuck at home alone; you are flying."
