A nerd attempts to upgrade and win a pretty girl over in Gareth Phillips' sunny charmer of a promo for The Dealer's Right Beside You. 

Shot in Barcelona and nicely cast, the male lead pursues his game by busting some impressive moves until the object of his desires does the decent thing and submits to his geeky charms...

GARETH PHILLIPS:

"The track has an innocence laced with fat beats, and I wanted to illustrate a simple boy-meets-girl narrative by using dance as a metaphor to develop the relationship between the two characters. I imagined using cool body popping movements that would cohere with the beats.

"We cast a nerdy-looking guy who could pull off some fascinating moves, and a fit and slightly unattainable girl who could also visualise the rhythm in perfection. The mix of cool dance moves and snippet of narrative led us to an edit which worked simultaneously with the music and the development of a cute encounter.

"Filming in Barcelona was hard work but rewarding. It's such a charming city with so many beautiful backdrops and magical lightings. Our crew was small but every single effort has helped to generate a wonderful energy for the production. Working with dancers has always been a pleasure, especially these two. They brought so much initiative and life to the shoot. They played the characters well and devoted their best performances until the very last take.

"It had been an enjoyable project to work on and I will definitely try to take on more sunny locations in the near future."
