Dave Free and&nbsp;Kendrick Lamar direct a poignant performance promo for Count Me Out.&nbsp;We meet&nbsp;Kendrick by his piano, deep in thought until he is interrupted by his therapist - played by the inimitable Helen Mirren - who encourages him to continue his session.&nbsp;The video then splits off into a series of abstract vignettes, which each artistically interpret the lyrics into something photographic and emotionally stirring.&nbsp;The composition is also inspired, placing intimate shots of Mirren and Lamar on opposing sides of the frame, in the manner of a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triptych" target="_blank">triptych in medieval art</a>,&nbsp;allowing viewers to take in the emotions from both sides, whilst experiencing the vignettes in the middle.Brilliant work, with a moving message.&nbsp;

It's been a long time coming, but it's been worth the wait. The first proper music video by Kendrick Lamar in ages comes with the burden of following the greatness that has preceded it. But this one... it's that rare moment when you sense something very special has happened. A culturally significant, transcendent work of visual Art.Yes, music videos can be Art. Easy to forget. Yet with The Heart Part 5, Kendrick Lamar and&nbsp;Dave Free - the old Little Homies team, now openly credited - have shown that there is the potential to harness the medium to elevate the message onto a new level. That should be incredibly inspiring - to musicians, filmmakers, and simply everyone who watches it.&nbsp;They have done so by using cutting edge VFX - the use of deepfake&nbsp;technology,&nbsp;created by Deep Voodoo, is fantastic. Kendrick transforms into a series of famous Black men - starting with&nbsp;OJ Simpson, moving on to&nbsp;Kanye, Nipsey Hustle, Kobe Bryant, Colin Kaepernick, Will Smith - visual portrayals that, in the case of Nipsey Hustle,&nbsp;are reflected in his words.We have seen some very good deepfakery&nbsp;before, mitigating against the absolute originality of the concept (and accusations of plagiarism have already started). But ultimately, it's all about the simplicity, the aesthetics, the timing, and above all, the spellbinding performance. Kendrick is so great in this. The occasionally imperfect lipsync makes it even better. And for good measure, he's rapping over&nbsp;Marvin Gaye's I Want You. LANY reunite with Isaac Ravishankara - director of their memorable&nbsp;<a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2019/02/14/lany-thick-and-thin-isaac-ravishankara/57315" target="_blank">'how did they do that?'&nbsp;video for Thick And Thin</a>&nbsp;- for Heart Won't Let Me. The result&nbsp;is poignant, and like their previous collaboration, contains an element of mystery.&nbsp;It's another one-shot, with frontman&nbsp;Paul Jason Klein walking towards a big inflated balloon - shaped like a heart of course. Ravishankara's concept is simple but powerful, with Klein drawn back repeatedly to grab the balloon, representing the push-pull dynamic of relationships and heartbreak, and the insurmountable effort it takes to wrestle against our own emotions. And is the balloon getting bigger? Soon he is being lifted slightly off the ground, and then some more...&nbsp;&nbsp;DoP&nbsp;Drew Bienemann's sublime cinematography is both intimate and arresting, bathing the artist in a soft red glow and capturing the hypnotic while keeping things grounded. Well, until the end, that is.&nbsp;

Jodeb&#39;s superb video for Jack White&#39;s track Corporation is a mesmerising&nbsp;narrative piece, ostensibly a whodunnit-style murder mystery - with Jack as the victim. But then it becomes something even more mysterious. And by the end, it&nbsp;just leaves you with lots more questions.While the detective on the murder case (played by Zooey Deschanel, cast very much against type) interviews the various suspects of the investigation, Jodeb throws out&nbsp;their riveting, strange,&nbsp;and often grimly violent backstories. The whole murder mystery premise develops into something&nbsp;increasingly complicated, metaphorical and supernatural, driven by these fascinating characters and the fast-moving action.&nbsp;As the song builds to its climax so too does the narrative. In&nbsp;a boardroom, Deschanel joins all the suspects&nbsp;- with the victim.Jodeb leaves it to the viewer to decipher the meaning, if not the actual mystery of the crime. It&#39;s surreal, symbolic, thought-provoking, and it&#39;s brilliantly done.

The Sacred Egg&#39;s vision of the future is not all that cheery in Arcade Fire&#39;s new video for&nbsp;Everything Now.With the remnants of satellites littering the barren desert landscape, children playing among the waste and the floating cacti, and an endless team of people in hazmat suits combing the earth for clues, it&#39;s a dystopia that feels a little too real in wake of recent American political missteps in the field of climate change. Tied together through the decaying infrastructure, the various dystopian vignettes cast a bleak, but beautifully shot, view of the future. Intercut with a stylish-as-ever performance from Arcade Fire who sit right in amongst the desert themselves (next to a brilliant, entirely useless billboard that intentionally blends into the backdrop and also serves as the artwork for the album).

Instead this relies on excellent hip-hop dance choreography by Ryan Heffington - and&nbsp;the&nbsp;man behind the choreography for Sia&#39;s Chandelier and Elastic Heart, Vince Haycock&#39;s&nbsp;How Big How Blue How Beautiful&nbsp;series&nbsp;for Florence +&nbsp;The Machine, and lots more, is directing this one too.&nbsp;
