Best of 2017: Promonews' Most Viewed Music Videos of the Year

Here are the Top 20 videos with the most views in 2017. And it's a list where Ed Sheeran takes the number one spot with a video which has nearly three times the number of views as its nearest rival.
The Jason Koenig-directed video for Shape Of You, released in January, is now closing on an incredible 3 billion views on YouTube. It puts it at No. 4 in the all-time list of the most viewed on YouTube - a list now headed by Luis Fonsi's Despacito, with an incredible 4.6 billion views. There's every chance Shape Of You will have been watched more than Gangnam Style sometime next year.
That also makes Shape Of You the most successful British video in terms of YouTube views of all time - so congratulations to Atlantic Records UK and their video commissioner Dan Curwin. And with three entries on the list, Sheeran makes up half of the British entries on the Top 20 - together with Dua Lipa, Clean Bandit and Calvin Harris.
Bruno Mars's That's What I Like heads all the non-UK videos, in a list that is based on all the videos featured on Promonews in 2017. So it's not a definitive list of the most viewed videos. We'll have to get into the Latin pop thing in 2018...
