Sevdaliza shares the powerful video by Dutch director Willemskantine featuring approved deepfake A-List celebrity faces - including Grimes, Ferg, Julia Fox, and Madonna - on bikini-clad competitive bodybuilder figures.The video for latest single Nothing Lasts Forever takes place in an industrial space, depicting this weird dichotomy of famous faces and super-built physiques - although that is not so startlingly obvious with Sevdaliza herself. The effect is certainly thought-provoking and unsettling, meditating on themes of technology and youth, with a bleakly futuristic aesthetic. Willemskantine is an Amsterdam-based visual artist who creates photography and film with a balance between documentary and fashion. Willem, the artist behind Willemskantine, has a precise way of working and a technical knowledge of his craft, which he gained from completing a technological photography education.“How do you get Sevdaliza, Grimes, Madonna, Julia Fox and Ferg in one space? By using the same technology that is often weaponised against artists, instead, as a vehicle to bring them together as collaborators, that’s how," explains Willemskantine. "Of all these uncanny artists, who is really there? Whatever medium it is that Sevdaliza and Grimes speak through, they are constructing worlds of their own that mirror and distil the world we all share."The video for Nothing Lasts Forever plays with the theme of transience in a digital landscape. In a world where filters are always within reach and reality blends seamlessly with our digital identities, the video seeks to question our common reality in an engaging way.”

Depzman, aka Joshua Ribera, a rapper who was stabbed to death aged 18 in 2013, comes back to life in this emotional music video using Deepfake technology, directed by directing duo BRIGHTNIGHT.After opening with a short series of videos of the young rapper performing and his breakout on YouTube, the video then displays a message that gives context to the project - co-commissioned by The Joshua Ribera Foundation, the charity that combats knife crime in his name, and SBTV - and how it came about. BRIGHTNIGHT came up with the idea and pitched it to the charity, in partnership with advertising agency McCann London. The team recreated Depzman using Deepfake video technology and a rapper body double who could lip sync the lyrics and mimic Depz’s characteristic movement, down to the movement of the head and hands.In conjunction with the film, an original track with digitally manipulated vocals and a classic 140bmp grime beat were produced. Rapper ShadowCV ghostwrote the lyrics with Alison Cope, Depzman’s mum, and took inspiration from Depz’s life story and his old videos. Some of his old lyrics were also incorporated into the song.“Deepfake technology gets a lot of criticism in the news but we wanted to show that it can be used for good," say BRIGHTNIGHT. Absorbing and poignant, the video is a standout use of the technology, and an example of the good that can come from creative collaboration.

Watching them one after another gets very trippy, so be warned! It's brilliant work.
