Rodrigo Inada directs a dramatic blockbuster for Hong Kong rapper - and member of South Korean boyband Got7 - Jackson Wang. The video for High Alone explores the duality present in all of us, manifesting in two versions of Jackson Wang on screen: as he battles his darker self in his apartment, Inada presents a big setpiece with Jackson as a Houdini-style escapologist sunk into a glass box.The latter has a traumatic and hugely symbolic outcome: despite escaping his shackles, Jackson is trapped underwater in the glass box, to the delight of the audience of onlookers.Infused with a deep red and blue colour palette and a grimy, textural aesthetic, this is a cinematic vision, a powerul addition to Wang's videography - and arguably a very tough watch for his legion of fans.

It's taken a while but the internet is going wild for Sarah Dattani Tucker's visual for Lola Young's Messy. And you can see why. In an empty, red-carpeted room - with the exception of a giant birthday cake - Lola Young gives a great performance of the wonderfully vitriolic Messy. There's no close-up - it's all from a wide-angled locked-off camera. But that works for Lola distinctive presence. And you know stuff is going to happen with that cake.A few months after its release, this recently went viral on social media - having a turbo-charging effect on the views of the full video. Well deserved.

As with the previous video it's captured in a single take, Cat performing End Game direct to camera, as other clubgoers swirl around her. The video works in establishing the separateness of Cat Burns, lost in her own thoughts about a struggling relationship, amid an oblivious crowd of revellers - who include India Amarteifio and Sam Reuben.

After setting the tone with It’s Crazy, J Hus is back to business with infectious Afro-beat banger Militerian.Directed by TG Omori, the video sees Hus link up with Naira Marley, creating an undeniable dynamic which highlights their African pride.The use of primary colours play a huge role in the visual, with Naira surrounded by dancers in an all white room, contrasted with Hus draped in native garments, meeting with mysterious individuals. It’s a way of showing Hus as royalty, as he naturally glides through the vid guarded by foot soldiers, making the statement and he is king and has no plans of giving up his well deserved throne.Ambitious and grand in scale, the video moves at breakneck pace, with plenty of visual appeal from start to finish.

Nia Archives takes a contemplative walk through late-night London, in the video for So Tell Me...Co-directed by Dan Emmerson and the artist herself, the video intercuts the gentle performance section with a series of slow-shutter vignettes, depicting the complex relationship between a young couple. Showing their lives in separate (yet interconnected) scenes, the video hints at the bond between them, which is confirmed at the end of the video when they detach from their different groups of friends to finally meet up.The bittersweet, romantic concept is beautifully executed, with the frantic cinematography reflecting the contrast of the track - a jungle beat set against melancholic melodies. Wonderful work.

Tanmay Chowdhary visualises a poignant promo for Young The Giant.The dreamlike concept explores aspiration, family and sacrifice, in a beautiful series of multiformat vignettes. The use of vintage homemade footage and crisp, contemporary setups highlights the themes of the visual, and creates a thought-provoking contrast throughout. "The film is an experimental interlace of hyperrealities - all of which merge through the brown gaze on the pursuit of the American Dream, reflecting and questioning the journey away from the roots," explains Tanmay Chowdhary. "Flowing between the timelines of VHS footage captured by Sameer’s father - documenting his life from a baby to an adult - and dreamlike recreations of portraits of the South Asian diaspora on the shores of the abandoned Salton Sea, the film is a homage to the sacrifices made by first generation immigrants who moved West to provide a better future for their families."The film was created by an all-brown cast and crew, and it was the first time we experienced that in America."

Released to coincide with his latest mixtape project, the video spans an incredible amount of vignettes in its four minute runtime, placing the rapper in a variety of contrasting situations, celebrating the good and bad in life. Payper's performance takes centre-stage of course, eminating the raw, confident energy he's become known for, and the cinematography - especially the use of 180 degree flip transitions - adds a fresh dimension to the concept.And as he explains below, this is an especially treasured project by Hudson, as it was his last with Luke Biggins, who died last month.
