The video concept alludes to the idea of burying one's past life, and finding the strength to move on. The rudimental PC effects add a distinctly lo-fi, turn of the century feel, which contrast the poignant subject matter.

Lithuanian director Klemensas Kovlovas reunites with Manchester-based group Digging For Kanky, in the video for Crashing. The film and EP tell a dark and compelling love story set in Eastern Bloc Europe, following a young couple and their struggles with addiction.What starts as a usual boy-meets-girl love story takes an ominous turn, and throughout the resulting short film, we see the couple experience a rollercoaster of emotions and experiences.This follows Kovlavas's previous collaborations with the band, including an equally intense video for The Ugly, from their debut EP in 2020.

LOOSE reunites with IDLES, and also collaborates with animator Edie Lawrence to direct an eye-popping claymation epic for the piledriving Crawl. In classic claymation style, the fun is how the malleability of the form leads to a jawdropping, often grisly transformation. That is certainly the case here, as a claymation version of IDLES' vocalist Joe Talbot hits the road on his chopper motorbike, riding down a Route 66-style highway.It's not long before the transformation begins, as he ventures further into the unknown. The flesh is slowly being stripped away from his body...Exploring the lyrical themes of addiction and having to face your demons head-on, the video is a brilliant achievement. Not for the faint of heart, maybe, but it is IDLES after all. LOOSE and animator Edie Lawrence, supplemented by VFX wizard Jordan Chappell, echo the work of the real masters of the artform, and it's very good to see claymation having a moment once again.

Hak Baker faces up to addiction, in Jon E Price's reflective promo for Irrelevant Elephant. The party is over, and Baker is shown hanging around his flat, seriously hungover and drowning in apathy, as an animated elephant begins to invade each frame. Starting off as a carefree, colourful character, the elephant - who appears when Hak thinks about taking to the booze again - soon distorts into an unwelcome and menacing presence.As his addictions take hold, the artist has to find the inner strength to take back control.

Grant I. Worden directs a raw and intimate promo for O.D.D.I.T.Y's The Cycle. His debut studio release, Impaired Vision, is presented as a musical journal, and this is the first chapter of that story. Visually represented through a speed-ramped transformation - from a good-looking, everyday guy into a man struggling with drug addiction - the video has a clever and authentic concept, which explores the pain, enlightenment and perseverance of the artist's journey. "The Cycle is loosely based upon true life events I experienced as a young man," explains O.D.D.I.T.Y. "My father's recent passing opened the door for what is one of the most personal entries in my journal. It is real, in your face, and unapologetically liberating and truthful."Welcome to Impaired Vision. This is Chapter 1 ... The Cycle."

Kimberly Stuckwisch navigates a story of cyclical addiction and depression, in the powerful video for Margo Price's Hey Child. Exploring the scars we carry around from the relentless push and pull of life, and our daily struggle to regain control, the universal themes are stunningly visualised through a heartwrenching performance from Price, and an abstract narrative that traverses drugs, car crashes and jailtime - but ends with a message of hope and optimism. DoP Justin Hamilton uses plenty of visual trickery to breathe extra life into the setups, through simultaneous movement between the character and the artist. It's by no means the first time we've seen the camera moves, but a perfect example of how and when to use them, with a unique, contemporary twist.And the final frame is so important its worth featuring here. Great video.
