The Neighbourhood 'Hula Girl' by Ramez Silyan

Promonews - 20th Nov 2025
Ramen Silyan extends the Lynchian world around Californian band The Neighbourhood, with the story of a man who appears to have a lot of catching up to do.
In the video for Hula Girl, the man, played by Craig Stark, opens the garage on his treasured car that's covered in a film of dust. Then he heads to the bar, where the band are playing, to line up a series of tequila shots.
Silyan leaves the viewer to figure out the character's backstory that leads to a series of unfortunate actions, mixing unease at the unfolding narrative with a dreamlike quality. It's excellent storytelling, adding another level to the aesthetic and world-building that was established in Private, his other video for the band.Â
