A woman falls in love with the Fatberg - yes, you heard right - in Eoin Glaister's marvellously&nbsp;entertaining return to music videos for Sam Dust, aka LA Priest.It's a tale both charming and ludicrous - in other words, classic Eoin Glaister territory - as a house cleaner (played by comedy actor&nbsp;Juliet Cowen) peers into a street drain on her way home from a hard day's work, and sees an&nbsp;amorphous blob of grease and fat - who looks back at her. And they fall head-over-heels for one another...What follows is a both lovely and a little bit disgusting, as Cowen ventures into the sewer system to properly meet the Fatberg, and we follow the inevitable steps of the relationship - the wooing, the (ahem) physical relationship, the arguments, the peace offerings of wet wipes and non-biodegradable products down the loo. And like all stories of star-cross'd lovers, it's not going to end well - but even then, love prevails. Kind of...[imgtoken data:1]It's Eoin Glaister's second video for Sam Dust, formerly of Late of the Pier, as LA Priest, and was shot in London over two days on 16mm.&nbsp;“The first video I made with LA Priest involved letting an untrained pack of dogs lick liver paste out of his ears, so I was somewhat surprised to get a call regarding It’s You -&nbsp;but&nbsp;needless to say l leapt," he says. “The track is about someone falling in love with a mermaid, but the time of year meant I kept running into safety issues with any water-based ideas. A fatberg provided an altogether greasier route."A few Mighty Boosh references later and we were away. Eternally grateful to the fabulous crew who went above and beyond to bring this to life on Valentine’s Day and to our stars, veteran genius Juliet Cowan, and Vanessa Del Bosco whose zen-like patience made the project possible. Stink Rising have announced the signing of award-winning producing duo&nbsp;MrMr to their global directing roster.MrMr are Katie Lambert and Martha McGuirk, who are returning to Stink where they first began working together in 2018, when Lambert was Head of Music at the London-based production company and recruited McGuirk to join as music video producer.The pair left Stink to establish their own production company, MrMr Films, in 2020. Since then they have produced ad campaigns and high profile music videos for the likes of Little Simz, Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, Muse and others, working with directors such as&nbsp;Lope Serrano at CANADA, Felix Brady, Georgia Hudson, Terrence Neale and Salomon Ligthelm.In addition to their producing work, MrMr have co-directed&nbsp;music videos with artists such as Wet Leg and Self Esteem, eventually moving into solo directing on projects, including a short film for Suede’s album Autofiction.&nbsp;Their latest project as directors is their short film <a href="https://stinkfilms.com/project/eat-it-competition" target="_blank">Eat It</a> - a gut-busting&nbsp;comedy. Released last week and destined for a festival run, Eat It has so far been accepted at&nbsp;Birmingham Film Festival, Oslo Film festival, Oaxaca Film Festival and New York Shorts.“It’s nice to be back and pestering all our old co-workers to try and get us scripts," say MrMr's Lambert and McGuirk - who will continue to produce the work they direct. Andrew Litten's thought-provoking video for Belle &amp; Sebastian features&nbsp;Olympic figure skater&nbsp;Jonathan Cassar, who uses his time on the ice&nbsp;to&nbsp;escape from the demons of his&nbsp;past.Litten's approach to&nbsp;I Don't Know What You See In Me - a song from the new Belle &amp; Sebastian album Late Developers - is to create a starkly cold aesthetic and faintly disturbing atmosphere at a vintage ice rink, which is deserted apart from the presence of Cassar.&nbsp;This is&nbsp;a real counterpoint to the familiar lightness of B&amp;S frontman Stuart Murchoch's voice, and then the champion skater begins a&nbsp;graceful routine on the ice with plastic bag taped around his&nbsp;head. Director duo&nbsp;Grin Machine - that's Dan Streit and Cole Kush - create a mind-boggling promo for&nbsp;A$AP Rocky, combining tropes of hip hop videos - including&nbsp;Rocky's - with high concept Nineties comedy Weekend At Bernie's, delivered in the directors' wildly experimental comedic style.&nbsp;&nbsp;Released in collaboration with&nbsp;EA’s new videogame Need For Speed: Unbound, the video for Shittin' Me opens with Rocky at the height of his career, barking orders at office employees.[imgtoken data:1]But after an unfortunate crowd-surfing incident, Rocky collapses and dies. So his entourage then embark on various methods to keep the Rocky bandwagon/gravy train&nbsp;on the road.This involves their desparate attempts to puppeteer Rocky's lifeless body (as per Bernie's, and the DANIELS' debut feature Swiss Army Man) but eventually they revert to building a new, almost-realistic version of Rocky to replace the old. And hope nobody&nbsp;notices - even though he seems quite a lot nicer than the original Rocky.[imgtoken data:2]This gives full reign to&nbsp;Streit and Kush's&nbsp;leftfield&nbsp;aesthetics in a breathless blur of frenetic,&nbsp;AI-enhanced visuals.&nbsp;The whirlwind of imagery and textures create a hypnotic, almost out-of-body experience, and builds to a climax of haunting vignettes that look vomited up straight from the Uncanny Valley.&nbsp;“It was this weird and beautiful situation where Rocky had no notes and was fully on board to try out anything with our bizarre narrative.,” explain the Grin Machine pair. Saad Moosajee directs an awe-inspiring&nbsp;promo for the unmistakeable Woodkid - the musical alter-ego of Yoann Lemoine.&nbsp;Playing out&nbsp;like a duet between organic forces and burgeoning machinery, the video for Reactor is set many years in the future inside a volcanic megastructure.The film took over a year to create and combines Unreal Engine live choreography recorded with motion capture technology and keyframe animation. The team consisted of only three&nbsp;full-time production artists - including lead animator Daniel Callaby and technical director James Bartolozzi, who developed a suite of bespoke production tools that made it possible for a small team of artists to do all of the visual effects work.[imgtoken data:1]Breathtaking textures amalgamate in an otherworldly, haunting atmosphere, and the video as a whole is a&nbsp;tour de force&nbsp;of innovative creativity, with&nbsp;the nature and operatic scale of the imagery is very much a continuation of the world of Woodkid.“Our vision for the film was to have an environment that felt alive - so much so that it became a character in the film," explains&nbsp;Moosajee - who has previously created&nbsp;brilliant painterly animations for the likes of Thom Yorke and Mitsky. "To achieve this, we created over 100 unique lava and smoke simulations using tools by Thomas Marque and James Bartolozzi. “We approached the VFX for this music video through the lens of an animated feature film workflow, developing custom production tools and software to visualize such a unique story and landscape."[imgtoken data:2]This song was inspired by the films made in the golden age of 80s and 90’s Japanese animation – Akira and Ghost in The Shell - as Woodkid explains."I wrote Reactor&nbsp;for the Suginami Junior Chorus (Japan), and we recorded the piece in 2020 in Tokyo. It is an homage to repetitionist and minimalist music and an homage to the Japanese anime that was part of my culture when I was younger.”He adds that he contacted Moosajee when his album S16 was released two years ago.&nbsp;“I was already a big fan of his work. We share the same passion for animation and motion design, and for dance.[imgtoken data:3]"When he asked me to do a video for one of the songs off the record, I immediately accepted and gave him the time to produce this beautiful film that gives a new dimension to the song. About trying to breathe in a place where no one and nothing can breathe anymore.”

Since then, he has been honing his filmmaking craft&nbsp;making commercials,&nbsp;and it shows.To achieve a 360 degree shot of choreography atop of a moving car on a limited budget required a highly ambitious technical approach that had not been done before - involving precise 3D mapping, cars on rotating turntables, custom algorithms, and virtual environments supplied by the gaming&nbsp;giant EPIC Games.[imgtoken data:2]Brady's ingenious solution was to 'create'&nbsp;an orbiting camera move by spinning the vehicle on a platform inside an LED volume - on the largest LED stage in Europe, in Latvia. Virtual backgrounds, supplied by EPIC Games, originally created for the videogame The Matrix Awakens, were then synced to match the car’s rotation.In fact, Brady&nbsp;utilized a never-done-before filming technique involving precise 3D mapping and bespoke algorithms to offset in-camera tilt, jib, and pan, to track with the animated backgrounds. Dan Streit directs the new promo for Joji's Glimpse Of Us, highlighting the absurdity and misery of overly-masculine posturing.&nbsp;The grimy concept is packed full of questionable activities, including property&nbsp;destruction, setting off fireworks, public urination, and causing general chaos.&nbsp;Shot in a loose, DIY manner, the visuals feel characteristic of footage shared on social media, with a distinctively lo-fi feel&nbsp;and air of barely concealed anger.This is a brilliantly grim satire on a nihilistic,&nbsp;Incel-driven mentality -&nbsp; Jackass-style behaviour gone dark and run amok. Stink Rising have announced&nbsp;the signing of award-winning director&nbsp;Sinan Sevinç to their global talent roster.Currently studying at&nbsp;the prestigious Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg for a diploma in Directing Advertising Film,&nbsp;Sevinç has already worked with brands such as Porsche and Mercedes, and has been recognised with numerous industry awards, including at the Shots awards,&nbsp;Ciclope’s and 1.4s, and the Young Directors Award at the DWP/ German Advertising Film Awards.Sevinç is German/Kurdish, who grew up in a small German town, and was inspired to shift careers from journalism to directing, due to a desire to tell stories from his own perspective, and portray his own creativity through film without the constraints of journalistic rules, responsibilities and time pressures. At the same time his work is based on journalistic research, to attain precision and authenticity.His work&nbsp;<a href="https://stinkfilms.com/project/born-guilty/" target="_blank">Born Guilty</a>, for the organisation&nbsp;The Innocence Project, which works to tackle errors of judgement in&nbsp;the USA, tells the true story of Huwe Burton, a young black man from the Bronx, who was wrongly accused and&nbsp;imprisoned for 19 years for killing his own mother, and spent the duration fighting for his freedom and innocence.&nbsp;The film has won numerous awards, including at the Shark Awards for Best Direction, bronze at the Ciclopes, two&nbsp;golds at the YDAs and winning at 1.4.“My ambition as a director is to tell authentic stories with a multicultural sensibility that trigger emotions," says&nbsp;Sevinç. Paul Ward directs a riveting film for surf brand Mami Wata.&nbsp;The video for Luck Is Alive tells the story of an African surfer who is a believer in Animism, a sensibility prevalent among surfers throughout Africa. Animism is based on the idea that everything is sentient: that inanimate objects, plants, animals or even entities such as the ocean have a spirit or a soul, often in the sense of having ‘personhood’.The cinematic film is a cerebral, often intense experience, and blends documentary and promo aesthetics. So much happened so quickly...</blockquote>"We talked about how I wanted to create the theme music for a supervillain's return, something that felt uneasy, tense, and eerie, yet completely encapsulating - that would feel like the perfect beginning to the next chapter," he explains.&nbsp;"[The song] Cold Summer&nbsp;started to take shape at 1am after a day of working, and as soon as we got the atmospherics and drums down we couldn’t stop playing it. We wanted to make something simple that allowed my vocal to lead and bend the vibe in each section. Creating it was freeing process I think you can hear reflected in the song.[imgtoken data:2]"The supervillain concept expanded into the&nbsp;universe of the film, and I wanted to bring the alter-ego Fredrick a step forward in our world - making a video that felt cinematic, textured, eccentric, vivid and humourous at the same time. As the idea got bigger, more characters were drawn in, and when all the dots were connected it was a pretty unrealistic concept to shoot in the UK."We ended up shooting in Kazakhstan and after a ten hour flight&nbsp;and two days with next to no sleep, filming in deserts, old hotels and golf clubs in the mountains, we came back with the video. Luckily we had a great team out there who facilitated the idea and made it possible. The film feels out of this world and unfamiliar to me. So much happened so quickly, it’s still a beautiful lucid blur."

That is certainly the case here, as a claymation version of IDLES' vocalist Joe Talbot hits the road on his chopper&nbsp;motorbike, riding down a Route 66-style highway.It's not long before the transformation begins, as he ventures further into the unknown. The flesh is slowly being stripped away from his body...Exploring the lyrical themes of addiction&nbsp;and having to face your demons head-on, the video is a brilliant achievement. Not for the faint of heart, maybe, but it is IDLES after all.&nbsp;LOOSE and animator&nbsp;Edie Lawrence, supplemented by&nbsp;VFX wizard&nbsp;Jordan Chappell, echo the work of the real masters of the artform, and it's very good to see claymation having a moment once again.
