Wesley Joseph ft Jorja Smith 'July' by Wesley Joseph

Promonews - 14th Apr 2026

Wesley Joseph and Jorja Smith come full circle, returning to their hometown of Walsall to pay tribute to the place that has shaped both artists' histories, in the self-directed video that kicks off his forthcoming album Forever Ends Sunday.

The video for July is a great example of the work of the multihyphenate artist - the director of most of his own videos. It has a crafted documentary feel with carefully framed and composed set-ups playing against the rawness of Midlands life and the communities that call it home. The emotional ties that Wesely and Jorja have for the place also shines through.

July comes from Wesley's 13-track debut album Forever Ends Someday, a fully realised and deeply cinematic body of work, bringing together the emotional and sonic universe that he has been carefully weaving across recent years, a world defined by introspection, atmosphere and instinctive storytelling.

"July was written during a difficult time for me but equally a time where I felt really thankful for the things that I do have," he says. "Just as the song started making sense and I knew what it was about - Jorja texted me. It was scary timing because in that moment I knew this was our song. It was a really special thing to be sat with one of my oldest friends having a 360 moment.

"This video wouldn’t exist, literally or figuratively if it wasn’t for where I’m from, Walsall town. This one is for the dreamers, still looking out the window. From the bottom of my heart I wanna say thank you to everyone who poured themselves into this to make it real. My family, friends and the community that raised me, we made something that stays when time passes. JULY.”
