Molly Shears directs an evocative promo for Toronto three-piece outfit Chew Bear. 

The video for This Morning follows lead singer Michelle Paterson who enters a liminal dreamscape, seeking out a mysterious companion who visits her in her dreams. The pair embark on a peaceful journey through snowbound suburbia, relishing in the friendship that they have... until she wakes up.

The hazy, surreal aesthetic feels unnerving yet calm in equal measure, a strange dichotomy that parallels the two worlds of reality and fiction. 

With gentle camerawork and lingering shots - very good work by DoP Luke McCutcheon - it's a beautifully executed vision, highlighting Shears' skill with character work and atmosphere. 

"Shot over a very snowy weekend in Toronto, this is a story about incomplete dreams taking place in a shoe-gazey landscape," explains Molly Shears.

"During the making of this music video we set out to explore the cyclical pursuit of something intangible, where a companion, a feeling, or a piece of one’s self is forever just out of reach."
