Laurel Smith 'The Red Pill' by Matilda Harding-Kemp
Rob Ulitski - 22nd Jan 2024
Matilda Harding-Kemp directs her latest pulsating pop promo for up-and-coming pop artist Laurel Smith, on a distinctly Western theme.
Following on from her stylish previous videos for Laurel Smith - for Everybody Bleeds in late 2022 and Vampire Romance last year - Harding -Kemp introduces a Western-inspired aesthetic for The Red Pill, with plenty of lasso-swinging action, fringed-leather styling and hay bale-centric art direction. It's safe to say that Laurel isn't in London anymore.
"To me, this is a narrative emblematic of times in your life when there comes a point where the only option is to move forward and let go of an old version of yourself that doesn't serve you anymore," she explains.
"It's the point where you reclaim yourself - even if there is pain in the process. You shed an old skin and start in a new one, through a journey of transformation."
