Alan Walker, Daya 'Heart Over Mind' by Mads Neset

Rob Ulitski - 16th Nov 2023

Mads Neset takes us back to the World Of Walker - a dystopian future where an oppressed city is controlled by an evil corporation - for Norwegian DJ/Producer Alan Walker's collab with Daya.

Following the Neset-directed videos for Hero and Better Off (Alone Pt 3), Heart Over Mind addresses the grinding routine in this future world and the courage required to break from the norm. The enigmatic, cinematic visual is breathtakingly executed, and whilst it exists as a chapter within a wider narrative, it very much stands confidently as its own piece too.

"Crafting music videos within this story universe is always a fun task, and being able to start a new storyline was exciting to break to the fans," Neset explains.

"Alan is very mindful of this universe and you have to adhere to a lot of characters, timelines, and various established themes, but that is most of the fun. It is really like stepping into a very established IP and sticking true to that "lore" as much as possible to not disappoint his fans.

"I really tried to get the video to live within the universe Alan has created, but also try to have an underlying theme that I think we all can relate a little to in our own day-to-day life," Neset continues.

"It can be repetitive, and the feeling of being stuck in a strict regime of a life is a universal feeling we all have felt and the guts it takes to break out of that cycle can be daunting."
