Elderbrook 'Back To My Bed' by Andrea Mae Perez
Rob Ulitski - 2nd Oct 2020
A young man struggles to deal with his heartache in Andrea Mae Perez's dreamy visual for Elderbrook.
The main character in Back To My Bed - played by Sulian Rios - is plagued by insomnia, and when he finally falls asleep he tosses and turns, while in his dreams as he moves from place to place, performing jerky, angular dance moves, while the object of his affections appears before him as a hallucination, always just beyond reach.
DoP Carla Stebbing uses an abundance of off-kilter angles and camera movement to visualise the concept, whilst Andrea Mae Perez's love for vibrant colour and character study shines through brilliantly.
