Mustashrik Mahbub directs a bold and beautiful tribute to women around the world, in his video for Katy Perry's What Makes A Woman - one of a series of animated videos created during lockdown for the singer's new album Smile.

What Makes A Woman is a lovingly calm exploration of women of all ages, ethnicities and groups. The narrative celebrates a Day in the Life of a series of animated characters, from a doctor to a news reporter - drawn in Perry's likeness - and is a striking ode to the power of embracing femininity in every form. 

Combining hand-drawn textures, montages and 3D camera moves, the visual is vibrant and refreshing, with an abstract yet familiar aesthetic.
