Mae Muller celebrates being young, free and single in Amy Becker-Burnett's playful promo for Me, Myself &amp; I.In a liminal office building space, we see Mae relax peacefully amongst the unused furniture, unbothered by boys or any of the baggage that comes with them.&nbsp;A few do appear, however - but they are there on her terms, acting as back-up dancers or doing her hair, for example.&nbsp;The transition from new-build, stripped-back environments to blossoming plants and full glam represents Mae's growth and her commitment to her own happiness, whilst encapsulating a contemporary fashion aesthetic.&nbsp;"I really wanted this to feel like a proper old skool pop video, pulling a lot of references from early 2000's iconic pop culture, which felt like such a transformative era for music," says Amy Becker-Burnett.&nbsp;"Both me and Mae wanted it to feel playful and tongue in cheek, but also have a really strong visual identity. Mae was really collaborative throughout the whole process and so fun to work with, there was always great energy set."

Sam Smith reunites with Luke Monaghan in a triumphant comeback for&nbsp;Love Me More.The song is all about the singer being more comfortable in their self, and Monaghan - who has directed more&nbsp;Sam Smith videos than anyone else - allows that feeling to seep through the course of the film in both a direct and evocative fashion.After a prelude listening to a&nbsp;phone machine voice message from an old friend who craves to meet up with them, Sam heads out into the day with a spring in their step - in a street scene reminiscent of one of their early videos.The introduction of a supporting cast is done through a break from the course of the narrative - conceptual set-ups and portrait shots of Sam's 'gang' from the LGBTQ+ community&nbsp;- before they all come together on the dancefloor.Monaghan keeps things interesting and affectionate throughout, never deviating from a positive and joyous mood. That's anchored&nbsp;by Sam's radiant performance. This dovetails really nicely with a song which has a tinge of gospel revivalism about it.Sam Smith is definitely back - and so is Luke Monaghan.&nbsp;

RadicalMedia’s C Prinz, part of directing trio sportscar, has joined forces with rapper and singer Doechii to forge an untamed and unforgettable new music video for her latest single ‘Crazy’. Teeming with female nudity, gun violence, and unfiltered emotion, the video tackles taboos surrounding women in the 21st century.The video opens dramatically with a nude Doechii shooting another woman in the head in an abandoned warehouse. Chaotic to its core, this sense of wildness continues throughout the film, which sees women smashing cars with baseball bats and dancing fiercely in formation dressed only in thigh-high leather boots, as well Doechii putting out a cigarette on her own arm. As the action escalates, a car is set alight, women fighting, running, and dancing in its orange glow. Suddenly, we cut to the first scene again, with Doechii shooting the woman once more - only this time, we realise that she is shooting herself.To craft the film, C Prinz collaborated closely with Doechii and label Top Dawg Entertainment on the creative direction, wanting to dissect the intricacies of women-on-women violence. Drawing from a decade of experience in the industry, C Prinz and Doechii wanted to reflect on the fact that some of the harshest moments they had suffered had come from other women, in reaction to a feeling that there wasn’t enough room for all of them. Pushing back against that notion, the team wanted the video to convey the thesis that when one woman suffers, so do they all. Using the revelation that Doechii was shooting herself all along, the video seals in this idea, showing that at the end of the day, women are in it together.The music video was shot on several different cameras, sometimes simultaneously, in order to complete the whole shoot in a single day. For the beginning and end, C Prinz had originally pitched a SnorriCam, so DP Mika Altskan reached out to the inventor himself to find out if he had anything new for them to play with - and he did. Doechii was given a rig to wear that could allow the traditional SnorriCam capabilities, while also being able to push and turn the camera on two other axes. This never-before-used equipment allowed Mika to transcend the dimensional possibilities of the scenes, making the viewer feel like they are inside a video game.Taking responsibility to respectfully depict such stigmatised and triggering imagery, namely female nudity and point blank gun violence, the shoot had to be approached with sensitivity. Field Trip producers Eli Raskin, Cole Santiago, and Nance Messineo strived to bring the creative vision to life while also cultivating a safe environment for such intensity to exist in a non-threatening way. C Prinz also ensured that the teams involved remained mindful of how the content would be perceived, knowing how quickly viewers could misinterpret its shock-value as gratuitous. To combat this, C Prinz worked to make the core message clear, transforming the piece into a springboard for reflection and debate on the way challenging ideas make us feel.C Prinz comments: “The idea for a project about power, self-realisation, and self-actualisation had been forming in me for a long time, and hearing the track brought it to the surface. It's a film about women surviving and ultimately rising in this world - I come from choreography, so I often see things in terms of bodies moving in relation to the rules of their space. When I pitched the idea, I didn’t think it would get the green light - it would be too dark, too aggressive, too masculine - but Doechii and Top Dawg Entertainment ran with it and allowed me to go even darker. From that day on for the next four months, Doechii and I worked closely to interweave her personal story inside of this beautiful hell.”She adds: “I am unbelievably humbled and endlessly inspired by every single person in the cast and crew that showed up with their endless energy and levity - this film is what it is because of their openness and willingness to trust and try. Similarly to how I feel about every department head on this project, DP Mika Altskan's willingness to work with me unconditionally, day and night, for two weeks straight was beyond the job description. His constant challenging of the idea every single day in a new way was truly inspiring.”

Harry Law directs a touching promo for Calum Scott's If You Ever Change Your Mind.&nbsp;Employing a choreography-based approach for the visual, the concept revolves around a couple who are on the cusp of breaking up, but drawn back to each other by their connection.&nbsp;We've seen plenty of interpretive choreography in the music video space, but this video ups the ante with seamless practical effects, which sees the dancers contort, balance and float in a way that feels ethereal and poignant.&nbsp;The movement feels inspired and emotional, whilst the intimate cinematography ensures the focus rests on the characters and the beautiful performance section.&nbsp;

Aya Tanimura directs a&nbsp;transatlantic production for Liam Payne's Sunshine, from the soundtrack of Disney film Ron's Gone Wrong.&nbsp;Jumping between a lighthearted performance section - with a chicken, which no doubt makes more sense within the context of the film - plus snapshots of both a live action narrative and scenes from the animated film, it's a full-on extravaganza, with plenty to keep viewers engaged.&nbsp;Focused on an overarching theme of spreading the love, both within the digital and real-world environments, it's a feel good, breezy promo that will leave you with a smile on your face.&nbsp;

James Bay keeps watch over&nbsp;an old-school high street video shop, where he reminisces about a past&nbsp;love, in&nbsp;Jake Jelicich's absorbing video for Alesso &amp; Marshmello's Chasing Stars.&nbsp;As Bay plays 90s and 00s VHS tapes&nbsp;on analogue TVs dotted around his cosy store, Jelicich switches between the warmth of&nbsp;the singer's performance and glitchy tape footage, replaying transitionary memories of time gone by. It works really well in creating a sentimental and nostalgic sensibility around the song.[imgtoken data:1]Then as light is revealed behind the VHS shelves, Bay eventually breaks free of the four walls of the store, and suddenly he is on a beach with his old love. It's all made possible by Jelicich and his team having custom-built the video store, with terrific attention to detail for memorabilia of the period, in a studio. Then they headed for Margate to shoot that crucial end sequence.With a winning performance from James Bay,&nbsp;the video fittingly pays homage to a wide array of 90s/00s films, including Empire Records,&nbsp;Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Interstellar&nbsp;and The Ring. Above all,&nbsp;Jelicich has paid homage to the late, lamented&nbsp;video store itself - and done a really splendid job.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The latest video for The Academic by TEARJERKER - that's&nbsp;Hope Kemp and Ronan Corrigan - starts with lead singer Craig leaping into a swimming pool with no water, lying bloodied and broken as he begins singing Not Your Summer.Situated in a deserted holiday resort - it was filmed in Portrush,&nbsp;Northern Ireland - while intercut with footage from vintage Irish Tourist Board films of idyllic summer holidays, this performance video aims to capture the frustrations of a squandered summer.But ultimately this still&nbsp;looks as good as a picture postcard - courtesy of vibrantly colourful set-ups captured by Adam Singodia and graded by Vlad Barin, who also worked on creating the dream Americana-esque look of the band's <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2021/06/02/academic-kids-dont-end-me-tearjerker/71219" target="_blank">Kids (Don't End Up Like Me)</a>.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;

Having directed two videos for The Academic last year, Hope Kemp and Ronan Corrigan have given their directing partnership a new name - TEARJERKER - and now directed a third one for the Irish band.With a theme of being stuck in the small town you grew up in, TEARJERKER's follow-up to Anything Could Happen and Acting My Age is a series of mundane situations, where band frontman Craig finds himself inserted in surprising places - inside a vending machine, and inside a washing machine in a laundrette, lying in a freezer in the supermarket, and so on.In fact, with splendid work by DoP Adam&nbsp;Singodia and colourist Vlad Barin&nbsp;evoking several cinematic visions of&nbsp;suburbia, this small town is a weirdly alluring place to visit.[imgtoken data:1]
