The Lumineers 'Left For Denver' by Kevin Phillips
After the chaos of the previous day (as chronicled in Leader Of The Landslide), Junior surveys the aftermath, adding to the wanton destruction, and then making a discovery.
The sixth instalment of Kevin Phillips' remarkable series about the dysfunctional Sparks clan, for The Lumineers' forthcoming album III, is the most minimal so far, matching the solo performance of Left For Denver by frontman Wesley Schultz. It focusses entirely on the frustrated and traumatised Junior, looking for an escape from the Sparks homestead. And it's just as assured and compelling as everything that has preceded it.
