Arlo Parks's first new song since the release of her hugely successful debut album Collapsed In Sunbeams comes with a luminous visual by directing duo Zhang + Knight - their first&nbsp;music video since <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2021/01/14/london-grammar-lose-your-head-zhang-knight/68950" target="_blank">London Grammar's Lose Your Head</a> a year ago.For Softly -&nbsp;a song about "how fragile you feel in the dying days of a relationship when you’re still desperately in love" according to Parks -&nbsp;the directing team create a version of&nbsp;the real world which slowly unravels, layer by layer.What initially looks like an idealised, picture perfect&nbsp;location is gradually decontructed. The early sense of the singer being in a mid-century studio movie or musical is gradually undercut, as the staging is revealed and comes apart at the seams, leaving the constituent elements floating in surreal space.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]The marvel is that like their previous successful works for Eden and aforementioned London Grammar, everything is created in-camera - in this case at a film studio in Kiev."For us 'Softly' explored the idea of wanting something that was once perfect to end in a gentle way, and we wanted to express this using the world surrounding Arlo," explain Zhang and Knight. "We were instinctively drawn to the warm toned, hazy nostalgia of the 1960's, as we loved the idea of something universally romantic being slowly stripped away throughout the film."We based the colours of the bricks, trims and doors on mid-century painting in order to bake this romanticism into everything. The production itself was a huge challenge, as everything was captured in-camera with each piece of the set built on wheels operated by several production crew. However, we knew it was all worth it when we saw the skyscrapers dancing around Arlo for the first time."

Zhang &amp; Knight's video for&nbsp;Meryem Aboulouafa establishes a distinctive mood all of its own - part-Arabic, part-surrealist - to create a wonderfully evocative video for the Moroccan singer-songwriter's song Deeply.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The staging&nbsp;is a stylish set, based on an architecture&nbsp;of courtyards and quadrangles found in North Africa and across the Mediterranean,&nbsp;rendered in serene pastel shades. The loneliness of life on the road is explored in&nbsp;Zhang + Knight's latest labour of love&nbsp;for Eden.Transporting a decaying plane across country on the back of a HGV, an ageing&nbsp;truck driver has more than enough time to meditate on his life and work. Location after location, the appeal of travelling has obviously faded as the driver looks for any distractions in the monotonous journey. The small things, such as new trails in the sky from a plane, or the animals running in front of the van on the road are given prime focus, the only novelty in the miles of countryside and terrain.&nbsp;Finishing off the journey at a scrap yard, the use of shots from inside the plane represent the idea that the vehicle has seen its heyday, and like every journey, this one has come to an end. Shot in&nbsp;Kazakhstan for 5 days on 35mm, the visuals are&nbsp;breathtaking and beautifully composed, giving the concept a charming yet wistful vibe.

Eden is vaporwave-dreaming in Projector, the latest video for the artist directed by Zhang + Knight.&nbsp;Opening in a beautiful, minimalist apartment, a slow camera movement reveals the artist sitting on a bed, washed in a rainbow of warm light. Jumping up&nbsp;and into the next room, the space is a maze of pastel colour, open plan architecture and vaporwave inspired design.As he leaves the building, the surreal sky envelopes Eden, encouraging him to move in a trance-like state, exploring the limitations of the environment and his own body.&nbsp;The space feels very much alive and almost like a character in itself, and the laser sharp focus on design and aesthetic is a perfect pairing to the track. Soft and dreamy, Zhang + Knight have created a universe that is calm and meditative, and Eden is a worthy inhabitant of that space.&nbsp;
