Coffee &amp; TV have announced the signing of Lewis Crossfield to the London-based&nbsp;creative studio&nbsp;as senior colourist. &nbsp;Crossfield arrives at Coffee &amp; TV from his previous role as Head of Colour Grading at Time Based Arts, where he collaborated with the likes of Seb Edwards for Penny ‘The Rift’ and ‘Creativity: It’s What Makes Us’ for the V&amp;A, directed by Georgia Hudson - both of which have been shortlisted for Best Colourist at this year’s British Arrows Craft Awards.He joins&nbsp;Simona Cristea, George Neave and Tash Hicks in the Colour department at Coffee &amp; TV. His arrival follows the recent promotion of Neave to senior colourist,&nbsp;and of Hicks from assistant&nbsp;to colourist.The team will be based at Coffee &amp; TV’s new Clerkenwell studio, which includes four grading suites and a large Dolby Atmos grading theatre, in addition to a robust remote working setup.“Lewis' work speaks for itself and we’re so thrilled to have him on board," says Leonie Moreton,&nbsp;Coffee &amp; TV's&nbsp;Managing Director. Lewis Crossfield joins Coffee & TV

The second in a series of videos by William Williamson for Philip Selway of Radiohead's forthcoming solo album Strange Dance continues the story begun in the first. The video for Picking Up Pieces&nbsp;features the same quartet of iconic dancers as the video for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2022/12/09/philip-selway-check-signs-life-william-williamson/79675" target="_blank">Check For Signs Of Life</a>:&nbsp;Siobhan Davies, Kenneth Olumuyiwa Tharp, Liam Francis and Simone Davies - with the piece also choreographed by Liam Francis&nbsp;and Simone Davies.Once again, it is filmed as a one-shot, with cinematography by DoP&nbsp;Adric Watson, this time working with colour 16mm film.&nbsp;The video features a spinning camera movement designed to mimic motoric pulse of the track, and takes it’s gorgeous golden brown autumnal colour palette from a painting made by artist Stuart Geddes in response to Selway’s new album.[imgtoken data:1]“We all viewed this film as a continuation of the last, with the choreography having echoes of our characters worlds whilst simultaneously unfolding new elements and emotions," says Williamson."I love the idea of creating a synergy between the music and the camera movement. So we not only decided to shoot this as a one take again, but the motorik pulse of the track and the powerful lyrics perfectly lent itself to a predominant circular camera movement. "Working closely with the dancers we wanted the constantly moving camera to be always revealing different components and layers of the performance, drawing attention to specific points within each frame as it passes by and the story slowly unfolds.“

The ninth and final episode from the Gorillaz' Song Machine series, and arguably Jamie Hewlett and co-directors Tim MCourt and Max Taylor have saved the best to last.If finding Elton John in cartoon form in Episode 7 was a surprise - how about his namesake Leee getting top billing as an angry sea monster, laying waste to a precious piece of Gorillaz history?The video for The Lost Chord is undoubtedly the most spectacular of the nine videos for the Song Machine album, but it is also in keeping with the rest of the series, particularly in exploring the increasing vulnerability of the previously devilish Murdoc. He has definitely met his match here, with the former frontman of 80s pop-soul outfit Imagination playing a chained Neptune-like creature who invades the band's poignant return&nbsp;to a now-desolate Plastic Beach with a momentous temper tantrum.&nbsp;This has been a brilliant series. As a body of work its as as good as anything in the Gorillaz canon. It's a real achievement by a consistent team of animators who have worked throughout the series. And the comic genius of Jamie Hewlett is still a bit underrated.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Bailey Tom Bailey explores isolation and human testing in his sci-fi inspired visual for Miya Miya.&nbsp;Opening in a nondescript testing facility, vocalists Gini and Jordan are sealed within perspex containers, under watch by an unknown captor. After being liberated from captivity, they meet a worse fate on their escape.&nbsp;Striking and well&nbsp;executed, the location anchors the haunting aesthetic, a clandestine and clinical space in which unimaginable horrors await an unlucky few.&nbsp;The video mixes body horror and sci-fi with a vein of dark humour.

Chris Ullens' video for Wait For You is the result of a global collaboration&nbsp;of performers, all filming themselves interpreting Tom Walker's uplifting and emotional track through the medium of dance. All their videos were then edited together and enhanced with hand-drawn animations by Ullens and colleagues to amplify their dynamic, fluid movements.Featuring performances from dancers around the world including India, Nigeria, Japan, South Korea, Belgium, Lebanon, France, Germany, the UK and the US, each dancer expresses the emotions of Wait For You&nbsp;to tell its story of healing and feeling free from your past in their own ways – visualizing the therapeutic powers of music and the cathartic expression it can provide.&nbsp; Although each dancer has filmed themselves separately, there’s a real sense of global unity and togetherness in the video as each dancer’s interpretation of the song&nbsp;comes together as one. A heart-warming sentiment considering the isolation brought on by the COVID-19 outbreak.&nbsp;

In the fourth of Matt Walker's series of videos for Jme, the independent rap artist reveals the extent of loathing of the music business, in the action-packed and violent video for Pricks.It's set in a corporate record label, where Jme is poised to sign a contract - until he notices a clause which says he is about&nbsp;to sell&nbsp;his own soul, in perpetuity... So he refuses to sign - and then all hell breaks loose.The ensuing tear-up, and his white-knuckle ride in trying&nbsp;to escape from the building, is a perfect accompaniment to Jme's entertaining diatribe.Whether or not you sympathise with all of his sentiments (or the violence), it climaxes in a resounding message - 'Thought my style didn't fit til I stopped listening to all these pricks.'&nbsp; - just as he is about to face his final stand against a group of seriously miffed record company execs. It's&nbsp;a tremendous vehicle for a seriously talented rapper.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

FKA Twigs self-directs this beguiling (and unexpectedly relatable) video for Home With You, a French Exit anthem in which the singer and her friends escape London in the dead of night.When you encounter an artist as distinctive as FKA Twigs, it’s easy to overlook the variety on offer in their output&nbsp;-&nbsp;to imagine each new project as just a small piece of a singular body of work. Over the past seven years, Twigs has developed a very specific mythology, a subversive blend of humanity, warmth and discomfort - encompassed in several key motifs. In a handful of FKA Twigs videos, you can be sure that dance will feature, landscapes will distort, forms will collapse, and inevitably, water will pour.&nbsp;These videos are often so impressive, you can immerse yourself completely in their spectacle without questioning their meaning or motivation. In Andrew Thomas Huang’s video for Cellophane, Twigs climbs a golden pole, attacks a skeletal doppelgänger with her platform shoe, and tumbles into a womb-like mound of red mud. She is then covered in said mud by a pair of masked older women. Who hasn’t been there, right? The narrative is incredibly moving, but at&nbsp;a gut frequency that is difficult to describe. Twigs’ preference for instinctive self-expression pays off.The video for Home With You marks something of a departure, in that it is so direct. Without letting go of her trademark abstractions, Twigs settles on an everyday, low-stakes sensation. Specifically, the urge to get the hell out of Stoke Newington and go home. The video is a kind of triptych, following the singer from the basement of Bar-A-Bar on Kingsland, out to the suburbs in a car with her dancer entourage, and into a smothering, Midsommar-esque community in the countryside.&nbsp;The car sequence, in particular, is a standout in the artist’s oeuvre. The choreography by Twigs and Theo TJ Lowe viscerally captures the complexity of escape. All the excitement, affection and trepidation that accompanies a long journey home. This&nbsp;knotty&nbsp;dynamic between different sensations is at the heart of FKA Twigs’ work, and grounded in the reality, it finds a salient expression in this video.

Ian Pons Jewell is back with the first of two new music videos, for London-based&nbsp;poet, musician and artist James Massiah - and brings us&nbsp;the end of the world in his own inimitable fashion.The video for Massiah's Natural Born Killers shows a city facing the ultimate unbearable heatwave,&nbsp;one that brings about a rush of dopamine, as the inhabitants of the city sweat out their final hours. The heat is inescapable, and Pons Jewell brings us a snapshot of an epic storyline featuring different characters&nbsp;- including&nbsp;Massiah, the last person on Earth to retain any cool.Everyone else is surrendered to their fate, and not wearing much - or anything at all. Which leads to the inspired use of VFX in the final scene where Pons Jewell puts his own characteristically off-the-wall twist on this parable of global heating - a melted man.Shot in Buenos Aires,&nbsp;Mauro Chiarello’s cinematography focuses on contrast, blown out highlights and a burnt orange colour palette, and helps create a sense of apocalyptic dread in both the exterior and interior locations. Meanwhile, Time Based Arts in London created the inspired VFX, culminating in that extraordinary final scene.
