Jme '000' by Matthew Walker

David Knight - 15th June 2026
Grime iconoclast Jme returns, reunited with longtime collaborator Matthew Walker on a new visual for one of his popular freestyles - and delivering in a way that only a Jme video can, where his fierce integrity and charisma meets a strong action-movie concept and plenty of humour.
In the video for 000, Jme is captured by the military-industrial complex to be the subject of a super-soldier experiment in the vein of Universal Soldier. And Walker achieves the feat of creating this blockbuster movie-type scenario on a shoestring through smart production design, the use of animation and pumping Jme to superhero size during his performance.Â
"This is an action sci-fi performance video for a popular Jme freestyle," says Walker. "We wanted him to become more powerful as the freestyle heated up, visually upping the ante every eight bars."Â
In the manner of Kill Bill, the video switches from live action to animation for the duration of a fight sequence - an effective ploy, but which extended the production period of the video, as Matt Walker explains. Â
"I tried to hire animators to add a fight scene, but I couldnt afford it," he reveals. "So I decided to learn how to animate on my iPad for 7 months and did it myself."Â
