Mike Dempsey and Manchester Orchestra continue their collaboration under the watchful eyes of DANIELS with this study in melancholy played out in reverse.Death, memory, childhood, and&nbsp;innocence; look on as it all goes out the window. Well, actually it&#39;s coming back in through the window as Dempsey&#39;s clip plays a catastrophe of grief in reverse. We watch the band perform in a long-forgotten living room (in reverse) whilst people fall down stairs, from the tops of buildings and out of windows. It&#39;s a harrowing mood piece as much as a narrative experiment.

Mike Dempsey &amp; Johnny Chew craft a rough-hewn, melancholic collage for Manchester Orchestra.Layers of still images cut from various sources fill the screen in Dempsey &amp; Chew&#39;s work, which was also overseen by longtime Manchester Orchestra collaborators DANIELS. The images, some archival, some straight from textbooks, and some brand new, come together here under the warp and grain of analogue tape to give us a montage of haunting, ghostly images that aren&#39;t necessarily sad but give out an overwhelming feeling of despair.

Part-music video, part-movie trailer, all brilliant.&nbsp;DANIELS (that&#39;s directing duo&nbsp;Daniel Scheinert&nbsp;and Daniel Kwan) have been away from the world of music videos ever since co-directing <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2014/06/16/joywave-ft-kopps-tongues-daniels-zak-stoltz" target="_blank">their&nbsp;Joywave video with Zak Stolz</a>&nbsp;about&nbsp;two years ago. But they&#39;ve been incredibly busy. Last year they unleashed the incredible and bizarre short film &#39;Interesting Ball&#39; onto the unsuspecting masses.&nbsp;Now they&#39;re gearing up to release Swiss Army Man&nbsp;- their debut feature film, starring Paul Dano and Daniel Radcliffe.Soundtracked by Andy Hull and Robert McDowell from&nbsp;the band Manchester Orchestra, the film looks set to have all of DANIELS&#39; trademark strangeness: frenetic special effects that happen so fast you barely process them, silly ideas &ndash; and farts.&nbsp;And this lyric video for part of the films&#39; soundtrack is an incredibly self-aware montage of some of those incredible and surreal effects.Ever since reported walkouts at Sundance, Swiss Army Man&nbsp;looking like it&#39;s going be divide opinion when its released on June 24th. But everything seen so far points to this film being amazing.Go, DANIELS, go...&nbsp;

Just like in any number some real bad things are going to happen to those kids out in the woods, once they decide to go a-cavorting in the altogether, in the&nbsp;video for Joywave&#39;s Tongues featuring Kopps.But as this is a DANIELS video - directed in partnership with Zak Stoltz &ndash; this is nowhere near what you&#39;d expect, apart from the trademark&nbsp;mayhem. At a guess, its a satirical dig at American&#39;s vaunted prudishness when it comes to nudity in the media. It&#39;s brilliantly done, and the wardrobe department deserve medals.&nbsp;&nbsp;

It all started a couple of years ago as OMG! Cameras Everywhere!, when experienced camp counsellors-turned- tyro&nbsp;music video directors Daniel Scheinert, Dan Kwan (aka&nbsp;DANIELS) and Isaac Ravishankara launched their own week-long programme for kids in Los Angeles, giving them the chance to pick up cameras and make music videos with some exciting local up and coming bands. It went so well that they did an expanded version of the camp the following summer.&nbsp;&nbsp;And in the summer of 2013, the charitable venture took some really bold steps. They moved beyond LA, and&nbsp;hosted music video camp programmes for kids in New York City, and then,&nbsp;at the end of July, in London.Under the guidance of LA-based secretary Judy Craig, the London OMG Cameras programme was organised by Prettybird UK executive producer Juliette Larthe. She&nbsp;recruited&nbsp;the help of several British music video directors and other professionals to be kids' mentors, plus the support of various companies, to put the week together in its base at the Brady Centre in East London.Crucially, Juliette gained the support of&nbsp;various artists who gave their tracks and their own time to help the kids make their&nbsp;videos - including Little Boots, Scruffizer, Is Tropical and Midnight Beast.&nbsp;And also,&nbsp;most importantly,&nbsp;the DANIELS were also there, to&nbsp;mastermind the first London OMG camp, for the whole week. So PROMO asked to the OMG team some questions about how it went - and Dan Kleinert came back with these responses –&nbsp;with additional material from his OMG colleagues...PROMO: How did OMG Cameras in London distinguish itself from the previous camps in Los Angeles and New York?&nbsp;OMG:&nbsp;Each camp is a product of whatever community the kids are from and the space we use. &nbsp;AND it's a product of the film community in that city. &nbsp;We found some amazingly passionate folks in London who helped us make some of the most ambitious OMG videos ever for some of the most amazing high profile and generous bands ever. &nbsp;Verdict: London is awesome you guys. &nbsp;Did a particular personality (or if you like, sensibility) emerge for this particular camp - and if so how would you describe it?Really rewarding chaos. &nbsp;This group of kids covered the full range from hard to engage to hard to control. &nbsp;But none of them had done a camp like this (based on open ended creative collaboration) and very few of them knew anything about cameras and movies. &nbsp;So watching them learn and get more and more passionate was inspiring. They were also a little bit older than the age groups we've typically worked with, so it was interesting to see how their ideas differed from those of our younger students.What were the challenges you had to deal with?The whole thing is one of the most challenging things we do every year. &nbsp;It's a relentless amount of media management and post production. &nbsp;We were editing 10 music videos, 20 little short films, and a behind the scenes film last weekend. &nbsp;Some days we had one adult for every kid. &nbsp;Or more. &nbsp;And it still felt understaffed.&nbsp; Our camp is just so fast paced and amorphous we have to constantly yell to be heard, grab kids and drag them back into their groups, and restructure our plans for how to shoot things. &nbsp;But that's just what film sets are always like right? It's part of what makes the experience so unique, and what allows us to focus on projects that are tailored to what the kids are interested in. We really couldn't imagine doing it any other way.&nbsp;What were your most treasured and/or memorable moments?Day one almost every kid was late.&nbsp; Three kids showed up almost three hours late and five kids didn't show up at all.The next day half of them got there even before we did. &nbsp;They were so eager for more and when we couldn't get the projector to work they were angry at us. By the middle of the week the no-shows even started coming in, having heard from their friends that camp was actually fun! So much enthusiasm, it was great!Would you like to say something about the videos we're going to feature on Promo News (for&nbsp;Midnight&nbsp;Beast, Major Lazer, Sonic Boom Six)…?We had some amazing bands give us music and come into the camp. &nbsp;It meant so much to the kids that these bands were actually awesome bands that they've heard of. &nbsp;And when Midnight Beast showed up Tamira wouldn't stop hugging them. &nbsp;Everyone should skim through the videos on our Vimeo page (specifically the OMG London channel) and just revel in the amazing music we got to hear all week. An unmistakeable slab of Daniels&rsquo; virtuosity graces the video for Passion Pit&rsquo;s Cry Like A Ghost &ndash; about a girl who&rsquo;s on an emotional rollercoaster &ndash; and physically swinging from guy to guy during the course of the video. It almost resembles a horror film at first, shot in a dark forest, but the characteristic whimsy of Messrs Scheinert and Kwan comes bubbling through as her unsatisfying urban encounters with various chaps burst through the trees. Following the (very real) box office bombing of their movie The Pick Of Destiny, Tenacious D, living up to their name, are back... But if the story of Jack and Kyle reuniting the band was told in the video for To Be The Best, catastrophe remains close - thanks to the young masters of chaos and iconoclastic FX, Daniels Kwan and Scheinert. 
DANIELS have done brilliant things before (at the moment it feels like they're doing it every week) but the video for Rize Of The Fenix ups the ante again - creating something amazing from a great big fail. The concept is that the band have accidentally released a rough cut of a video that actually went horribly wrong in the shooting.
It starts our sort of okay with The D at their rockiest - Jack and Kyle in hooded capes, with sword guitars and eye lazers. And then it all goes horribly tits-up as Kwan and Scheinert strip away the artifice, revealing the production assistants and the greenscreen. (They've described it as if their Battles video went wrong...) 
But it not only 'so bad its good' way - its spectacularly great in its awfulness. Its not just tenacious, its audacious. Another landmark for DANIELS...

Another jawdropping video by DANIELS - that's Daniels' Kwan and Scheinert - for Foster The People. And in this one for Houdini they kill the band... 
Its another virtuoso piece of action-packed entertainment - with a hint of satire at the heartlessness of the music industry. FTP succumb to a falling lighting rig on the eve of a big show - and the show must go on. So the band get reanimated... And are better than ever.
The follow-up to DANIELS' video for FTP's <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/2012/01/20/foster-the-people-dont-stop-by-daniels/" target="_blank">Don't Stop</a> it was actually made before that one. In fact, Houdini is a year old - DANIELS directed it just after making their seminal Manchester Orchestra vid - but the label have held it back until now, due to the lengthy success of the Foster The People album.

Daniels Kwan and Scheinart have rapidly established a reputation as masters of beautifully orchestrated chaos and pratfall violence. Their video for Battles' My Machines has those elements - but it's also a different kind of thing from their previous work. 
It features Gary Numan, and two escalators, and its awesome. You will take the stairs from now on, whenever possible.
And this was co-produced by Warp Records and <a href="http://www.thecreatorsproject.com/studio" target="_blank">The Studio</a> at The Creators Project - the partnership between Intel and Vice magazine which has also made several wonderful things happen at live shows at Coachella, including collabs between Chris Milk and Arcade Fire, and J Spaceman and Jon Glazer...

Brilliant, awesome, stupendous, tour de force... they are all massively overused phrases - and we're as guilty over here on Promo News as anyone. But then, very occasionally, something comes along which fully justifies these descriptions, and a few more. The video for Manchester Orchestra's Simple Math by Daniels is one of those occasions.The Daniels Scheinert and Kwan's previous work like FM Belfast's <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/2010/07/27/bug-20-fm-belfast%E2%80%99s-underwear-by-daniels-%E2%80%93-now-signed-to-warp-films/" target="_blank">Underwear</a>, has demonstrated their talent for choreographed chaos. This develops that idea and amplifies it to the power of ten. Its a notion that can be universally understood - the life-death moment when one's previous life flashes before you. But the way that idea is executed is original, skilful and utterly thrilling. And its a great song. Just watch it.

How to make proper three dimensional characters pop on the screen, and then reveal the warped contents of their heads, and do it again and again... 
You are watching the second Hundred In the Hands video by Daniels -that's Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan: a tour de force, and arguably even better than its predecessor. And up there with their calling card, for FM Belfast's <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/2010/07/27/bug-20-fm-belfast%E2%80%99s-underwear-by-daniels-%E2%80%93-now-signed-to-warp-films/" target="_blank">Underwear</a>. 
This is a sequel of sorts to <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/2010/08/04/the-hundred-in-the-hands%E2%80%99-pigeons-by-daniels/" target="_blank">Pigeons</a>, and Daniels have responded to comments on the video's Vimeo page that they are now going to move on from doing 'schizophrenic messy stuff'. Which is okay, just so long as they don't stop mixing engaging characters with inspired VFX...
