Casper Balslev directs a marvellous music film for Danish alt-rock band 802's song My Girl - an absorbing coming-of-age tale, subtitled A Heavy Metal Bedtime Story.Featuring and inspired by the track - which is 802's debut single - we are introduced to a goth teenage girl who feels alone in the world - until she visits a car graveyard and finds an old rusty hearse with a coffin in it. Inside the coffin lies another goth girl, exactly like herself. And then these two young outcasts go on a rampage through the local neighbourhood...Exploring those liminal moments of youth, when the world seems to stop and you feel stuck in limbo between different time periods, the video has a rebellious feeling that bubbles under the surface, threatening to spill over in a riotous sequence of events. Dark, enigmatic and utterly captivating, it's a brilliant video with idiosyncratic characters, cinematic locations and a vibrant, nostalgia-tinged aesthetic.
