Ex-Maccabees frontman Orlando Weeks and Wet Leg's Rhian Teasdale embark on a cinematic journey, in Matt Harris-Freeth's playfully surreal video for Dig.Paying homage to classic cinema and fantastical adventure films, the video seamlessly combines old-school SFX techniques with AI-generated imagery, with delightful results as giant Rhian and tiny Orlando make an unconventional team in search for treasure. The vintage aesthetic suits the offbeat concept perfectly, and the restrained yet inspired use of new technology helps it feel like an organic addition, rather than drawing attention to itself. A great collaboration, and the visual iconography paired with the artists' enigmatic performances creates a palpable energy.

Dana Gavanski's daily routine takes a strange turn, in Ella Margolin's playfully haunting promo for How To Feel Uncomfortable, taken from the singer-songwriter's forthcoming album LATE SLAP, out in April. The video opens with Gavanski in a strikingly unusual outfit, going about her day in a calm and collected manner. Though her appearance is otherworldly and ever so slightly inhuman, her character is patiently lying around, taking a bath, trying to work out her place in a very dull world. It's a fascinating concept which draws you into Gavanski and Margolin's off-kilter version of suburbia. At the core, the performance and aesthetic are top-notch, and it's a memorable idea with just the right amount of weirdness.

Thomas James Linton and Philip Reinking team up with YOVA for the alluring promo for Make It Better. The video draws inspiration from John Carpenter’s They Live and some of the more creative, left-of-field internet conspiracy theories - e.g. pixel glitches on TV that reveal politicians/news reporters as reptilian aliens. Set in a dystopian world, on an endless loop, the concept sees puppets vote for their own demise, mislead by a reptilian overlord. One puppet sees through the propaganda and stumbles upon their secret. “This song symbolises the society we live in and the culture of 'following the leader', wherever that may lead to," says vocalist Jova Radevska. "We become so accustomed to the amniotic state we live in because it keeps the status quo. It repeats throughout the years, new polished promises, talk of a better tomorrow.” With a lo-fi, surreal aesthetic and resourceful use of visual effects, it's a strong collaboration from the creative team, with an important message woven into the imagery.
