Director and bassist Adrian Shapiro directs a thought-provoking promo for his metal band Lo! In the video for Cannibal Culture, we awake to a grim representation of modern man, the contemptuous clown of capitalism.Flipping the script on the concept of a clown, the video opens with the main character at a mirror, applying his human face to greet the world. This individual is a clown when he wakes up, and has to get into costume to play pretend as an everyman. It's a haunting, inspired concept that is as unsettling as it is unique, and the eerie cinematography leans into this vibe.

Jay Green returns with a hypnotic video for MiniKingz' New Skin Care, playing with viewers' perceptions of what we see in a mirror. Beginning with a woman singing the hypnotic intro to the track, then Benjiflow from MiniKingz is introduced, appearing in a white background in a mirror frame - only to pan through the mirror and reveal him looking into another mirror. As the light strobe blinks, the screen then turns to dark mode; a rave appears in the reflection featuring the other Minikingz members, Ragz and Oscar Worldpeace. The performance-led video then continues this effective in-camera trickery, corutney of Green's clever negotiation of the space and the work of art director Lucy Ashmore. There are a series of skilful transitions, where the viewer is left guessing whether a 'mirror-image' is a reflection or not, and lines are repeatedly blurred of what the visuals appear to be. Ultimately this is a brilliant framing device to present the energetic charm and smooth flows of the trio. But once it ends you will be tempted to rewind it, to figure out how it was done...

Samy Mosher's second video for singer-songwriter Emmit Fenn, following the poignant Far From Here, explores the world of actor Brooks Ginnan, who has the genetic disorder Ectodermal Dysplasia. An abandoned convent provides the setting for the video for Edge Of The Dark, opening with Ginnan sitting on a bed, staring into a handheld mirror, explaining their experience with this disorder and the resulting body issues that have stemmed from the condition. Stalking the halls and laying still among plants and empty spaces, we see Ginnan embrace the light and the magical quality of their own beauty, and transcend the limits of society - and indeed, the physical world. Ending with hopeful statements of love and self-belief, the video leaves a lasting impression. An excellent complimentary visual to Fenn's emotional track.
