The return of Kodaline also heralds the return of Stevie Russell, their regular music video collaborator, with a tale that might just be his most heart-rending work yet.It starts in the darkest circumstances, at the funeral of a child. The focus is on another child, the younger brother of the recently deceased, who at first seems oblivious to the enormity of the situation.What follows is a poignant supernatural tale. The older brother (and he's the spitting image of the younger one) comes back, for a night of play. And the viewer always knows, what the little boy cannot, that the magic and joy is temporary.Concisely told - and this is edited by music video editing legend Tony Kearns - Russell's video is about the stages of grief, which must start when when you move on from the stage of denial.

Bastian Glaessner's video for singer-songwriter Nick Mulvey's Unconditional depicts the extreme highs and lows of the relationship of a young couple living in a caravan park, affected by the wild moodswings of the girl in the partnership.Glaessner, former member of pioneering directing team Lynn Fox, creates a fiercely credible story in familiar territory, with standout performances from his young leads. There's gritty intensity, but also old-fashioned love and romance, which suits with the passionate mood and melody of Mulvey's track.

Declan McKenna gets the Taz Tron Delix treatment with a psychedelic journey into space, a fish tank and beyond.The performance video is a glorious retro-futurist colour collage, with trippy transitions and psychedelic scenery galore. The clip pulls off a wonderful marriage between the in-camera and post-production aesthetics (by Ruben Woodin Deschamps and Taz Tron Delix respectively), blending the two seamlessly whilst giving each a life of its own.

Finn Keenan directs a charmingly funny mockumentary for Willie J Healey, in which he tasks Willie with playing “a pathetic but likable character who dedicated his life to recording the sound of things that don’t make sound.” Willie is a "Mute-ician" (someone who specialises in recording nonophonic sound, don't you know).The video sees Healey run through his recording process with things like "Squashed Pumpkin" and "a nice fence" amongst other hilarious nonophonic objects. With plenty of great visual gags, some brilliant reactions from the general public and Healey committing to his role with an excellent deadpan delivery, this is a real treat.The whole thing has the look of a VHS tape dusted off after years in the bottom of a charity shop bargain bin, and it's all the better for it.
