Amid the nouvelle vague hi-jinx, the references to self-defence education starts to take centre stage - through the visuals and the subtitles - reflecting the message of Donnelly's song Old Man, which comes from Beware of the Dogs, her 13 song LP, out soon on Secretly Canadian.
