Aymane Alhamid directs a journeying epic for South London saxophonist and producer Venna.Filmed near Briançon, in Alpine southeastern France, the video for Prophet is a true feat - nostalgic and conceptual, boasting breathtaking landscapes and inspired, conceptual vignettes. From sun-bleached day to spotlit night, a sense of unabashed creativity permeates every frame, often in an eccentric or unexpected way. It's beautiful work that allows Venna's intriguing music to envelope the viewer. "We wanted to create something that felt timeless - a visual piece inspired by classic cinema, designed to age gracefully," explains Alhamid. "Our goal was to stand out by taking a different approach: we believed that if someone else had access to the same tools, they wouldn’t make the same film."The mountain wasn’t meant to be the central subject but simply a backdrop - we aimed to craft a second layer of meaning within every shot. We imagined how a child might perceive a journey to the mountains alone, without an iPad or toys. What thoughts would cross their mind in that solitude?"The key themes were nature, of course, but more importantly: achieving a goal, being alone against the wild, and striving for the summit."
