Matilda Harding-Kemp directs a darkly conceptual promo for Liverpool rock outfit The Mysterines. In an abyss-like studio environment, we see vocalist Lia Metcalfe and dancer Joshua Hubbard entangled in a scarlet-red web, intercut with other minimalist performance setups. The concept is strikingly powerful and appropriately mysterious, blurring the line between reality and fiction with abstract flair. "In our music video [for Stray], we embark on an emotive journey into vulnerability, rage and primal instinct," explains Harding-Kemp. "Set in a dark dreamscape, Lia confronts her shadow self, igniting a journey of catharsis. We traverse the depths of her psyche as she embraces her dark feminine energy, culminating in a state of liberation."Together Lia and I examine trauma through a lens of liberation and the untamed, animalistic instinct inherent in the process of overcoming it."
