Darling Street 'Ghost' by Emma Jefferson, Marika Sophie
Rob Ulitski - 11th Feb 2026
A young man finds a way to channel his feelings after a breakup in Emma Jefferson and Marika Sophie's charming promo for Australian indie band Darling Street's track Ghost.Â
The video makes its mark with a strong idea and then delivers a satisfying twist, as the central character recalls his former happiness, struggles with his current misery, then makes a decision to express his tormented state of mind, via a pair of scissors and a sheet. He becomes the eponymous ghost. Â
Shot in stark monochrome, with moments of speed ramping and slo-mo, it's an impressively told tragi-comic tale. The directors' even give their hapless boy-turned-ghost figure a measure of consolation, where he meets a gang of fellow suffering ghosts - who may or may not be still alive. Lovely work.
