David East directs a dazzling South Africa-shot promo for London-based Greek singer/songwriter Irene Skylakaki. 

The video for Dead People is a rousing, feverish display of performance and art direction, playing out across several liminal locations, beautifully designed by East and brilliantly edited by Dave Warren.  

The edit is a central focus from start to finish, boasting intricate match cuts and lingering, atmospheric takes. This contrast filters down from the track, which is anchored by experimental soundscapes and a sense of creative freedom. 

"This film is a clear statement marking a new era for Irene," says East. "Our goal was to create an exciting performance video that feels extravagant and slightly unhinged, something that lives on the edge of control. 

"We wanted to capture a bold and electric tone while remaining grounded in a strong sense of pop appeal. Shooting in Cape Town gave us access to wild, striking locations and the perfect opportunity to bring this vision fully to life."
