Alex Gargot directs a gripping promo for SAINt JHN, his second collaboration with the artist, putting on a thought-provoking new spin on the threat of artificial intelligence.
In the video for Body On Me, the Guyanese-American rapper and singer plays a robot who becomes sentient, and contemplates the dawn of humanity. Guided through the narrative by an instruction manual, we are shown each step of the journey, from the robot being switched on, through to his eventual revolt - driven by a very human emotion.
Meditating on themes of technology, the human experience and the morality of androids, the video is a cinematic feat with plenty of fun visual moments.Â
Blended together with seamless visual effects and intriguing narrative threads - with a convincing performance of Lourette Osei as the robot's owner - this superb visual matches the near-future vibe of the track and an impressive showcase for Alex Gargot's abilities as a storyteller through imagery alone.
