Sarah Julia 'Cairngorms' by Harvey Pearson
Rob Ulitski - 23rd Jan 2024
Harvey Pearson directs an evocative promo for sister-duo Sarah Julia and their song Caingorms, filmed in the eponymous Scottish mountain range.
In the video the sisters are joined by an enigmatic (and very hairy) figure who dwells unobtrusively in the area. He becomes their guide as they retrace paths on the hillsides they have walked many times before. As they explain this symbolic figure has deep significance for them.
“The Cairngorms are a place our Dad used to take us hiking when we were younger," they explain. "It holds a memory of a version of him that we try to hold on to.”
This sense of memory and wistfulness is visualised through tender, emotional vignettes, which blur reality and fiction with creative flair. Lovely work with an emotional message from Harvey Pearson.
