videoThe Black Skirts 검정치마 'Teen Troubles In Dirty Jersey' by Waley WangWaley Wang directs an ambitious music film for The Black Skirts (검정치마), real name Bryan. Teen Troubles In Dirty Jersey is an official five-track visual album for 2022 release Teen Troubles, and sees Wang re-connect with the artist following the gripping promos for Dream Like Me and Two Days. The stylised, coming-of age-narrative is based on Bryan’s memories of a 90's summer as a rebellious 17-year old punk, in poor suburban New Jersey, joined by his friends John, Lara, Bosko, and Electra. Shot in a cinematic fashion - with voiceovers and subtitles intermixed with the tracks - the visual is absorbing and relatable, and matches the impressive scope of the album. "The project aims to capture their disaffected angst, delinquent freedom, and dysfunctional love for each other, as well as dramatically recreating his heart getting broken by a girl he was in boyish head-over-heels love with," Wang mentions. "The project aims to both indulge in nostalgia while also capturing its relationship with trauma. It’s a coming-of-age exploration of the melancholy that can sometimes come with even the happiest memories."
