Big Heath 'Lets Go' by Henry Oliver
Rob Ulitski - 26th June 2023
Henry Oliver directs an explosive promo for regular collaborator Big Heath.
Dripping with old-school vibes, the track combines the sound of 90's hip-hop and East Coast Boom Rap, and the video for Lets Go reflects that genre-bending sensibility. Infused with DIY visual effects, the monochromatic visual is as experimental as it is slick, and is anchored by Heath's natural talent as a performer.
Henry Oliver taught himself how to create and cut VFX of this scale on the job, armed with Blender and a set of 3D scans of the artist and locations. And he has managed to truly incorporate these elements into the project, rather than relying on the technology to do the heavy lifting.
One could argue that this is one of the most exciting yet unobtrusive examples of this technology in the new wave of AI/VFX vids so far, and that is high praise indeed.
